GFCI or ground fault circuit interrupters provide personal protection from ground faults and open neutral conditions anywhere electrical equipment is used. Protection for the job site, plant floor or workshop. GFCI is UL listed and meets OSHA specifications. Made of 3-conductor, 12-gauge wire and with Polar/Solar jacket. The GFCI should always be placed nearest the power source, plug in the GFCI then the extension cord. This inline GFCI has a molded Tri-Source 3-way power block with outlet covers for unused outlets. This GFCI unit is rainproof, rated at 15-amp with test and reset buttons.

This appears to be a well made product but I want to mention one caveat.

If you have something connected to a UPS (back up battery) and place this cable between the wall and the UPS, you will be in for a surprise. When the power goes out, it trips the GFCI cutting power. When the power comes back on, the GFCI will not reset. You have to manually reset it. The result is that anything you have plugged into it will remain OFF until you physically press the reset switch.

Imagine you are out for the day and the power goes out for 10 minutes. Your UPS will provide power during that time but when the power returns, it will not flow to the UPS and your equipment because the GFCI has been tripped. Your UPS battery will quickly deplete and whatever you had plugged into it will be off.

I wanted to use this for my aquarium but for the reason above, it is completely unsuited for the application.

Only use this on equipment/devices that do not need to remain on or come back on after a power failure.

GFCI's are an important safety device for anyone using electrial tools and appliances out of doors, or even in damp locations like bathrooms, basements or garages.

Especially when working on someone else's property, you can't be sure that their outlets are properly wired and grounded, even if they have a GFCI installed.

The simple design of this cord-mounted device plugs easily into any standard 120 volt outlet, unlike some of the 'big plug' models that don't fit everywhere.

This device easily stores in a tool box, bag, or glove box. It also provides a 3-way splitter to allow switching between tools.
