I sweat profusely. (It's the medication I'm on.) For the last two summers I've been searching for the perfect handheld fan. This is the one. It's the only fan I've tried that has sufficient power with only two AA batteries. The only other one I've used that was as powerful needed 4 AA and was obviously much heavier and bulkier. It was also much more expensive.

Proviso: After a week of use I found an annoying flaw. The fan blades come off too easily, sometimes flying off when you turn the fan on and potentially hitting people. I fixed it by making holes in the plastic and tying the blades on with fishing line.

This supplies a surprisingly strong air flow for its size, and certainly can cool one's face very nicely. Not too loud, either. The blades fold back, and if wrapped with an elastic band, it travels in a pocket or purse just fine.

At first I liked this little fan. I had only used it a couple of times when it suddenly stopped working. It started feeling slightly warm to the touch and then simply stopped spinning? I wouldn't waste my money on this as the motor appears to be junk & will burn out if you use it.

02/03/11 Update: I would NEVER buy from this seller again! After my fan stopped working after only using it twice, I attempted to contact the seller. They never responded to my message. I sent the seller a second message and again, they chose to never respond! Who would want to buy from a seller that doesn't care about it's customers?!? Not ME! To me, no customer support = no customers!

This fan puts out quite a lot of air for it's size. I would say it is much better than nothing when you are away from the AC. The blades are not soft, so I would warn that this is for careful adult use only.

Works like a charm for those unwelcome "hot flashes". Small enough to be purse sized and personal!

After being maimed a couple of times, I murdered this gadget (really and truly...I broke the blades off and tossed it in the trash).

Inspired by reviews that said it generates a good breeze (it does), I bought this to replace one I loved, that had flexible blades. Silly me; I figured I'd be careful enough not to hold this one too near my face or body, but it doesn't really work that way with small personal fans such as this.

Avoid like the plague. Instead, buy one with flexible blades, one where the blades are behind a small grill, or one of those manual folding Asian fans. Anything is better than this.

This "fan" doesn't blow any air. The blades are hard and could hurt if you accidentally hit them, but that wouldn't really matter to me if it worked. It certainly spins really fast--it just doesn't blow any air. It blows more air backward against your hand than forward. The best direction to get any air at all is to hold whatever you want to cool parallel to the blades while they spin. I don't know how this can be called a fan.

You get lots of air flow for such a small fan. It is not loud when running which is nice. The blades are of hard plastic so adults should be the only ones to use this product.

This is the most powerful,compact, and painful fan I have ever bought! Its a little loud but in a hot stuffy airport terminal the noise is nothing to me! Its very powerful and the folding blades are a smart feature but dare to touch the blades and you will be very sorry! Other than this small design flaw a have not regret my choise!

I typically don't believe the "avoid this product" type reviews, and here I am writing one myself.

The blades on this fan ar HARD plastic and they are very sharp.

I was using this fan, and my knuckle hit the blade. This not only hurt my knuckle, but it sent the sharp hard plastic blade flying through the air, wow what a hazard! What if that blade had hit me in the face or in my eye! What if it had launched at someone else and hit them in the eye!

I wasn't goofing of with this at all I simply held my knuckle up too high while trying to switch the fan off.

If you do absolutely must buy this fan because you have no other options, be VERY careful and don't use it around anyone else or let children use it.
