5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME tent! Best I've ever had!, September 29, 2009
This review is from: Coleman Exponent Kraz X1 Tent (Sports)
First off, let me tell you I'm a Boy Scout, and I used this on a recent campout. That campout was not your ordinary campout, it rained 2 to 3 inches during that time, which is not very ordinary. However, I was in this tent, and it stayed remarkably dry while other campers had an inch or so of water in their tent.

While we were setting up our tents, it started raining. But, because this tent is so easy and fast to set up, I had it set up before a drop of rain had fallen in it.

I stored my gear in the porch (there's some other fancy name for it, but whatever), and it also stayed really dry.

Speaking of gear, I stowed a bunch of it in a handy little pocket in the head of the tent, which I really turned out loving.

My favorite part about this tent is that the rainfly is an inch or so away from the mesh in some places, so the condensation would stick on the rainfly instead of on the walls of my tent like in my other tent, a mammoth 3 man.

The only thing I don't like about this tent is that you really can't move in and out of it at lighting speeds like in an average 2 to 3 man dome tent, as with this tent you have to go throught the rainfly and the mesh.

Another nice thing about this tent is that when I pack it its bag, there's still room for my ground cloth! Hooray! I love that. However, I did have to make my own ground cloth. That was easy, though.

Since I've bought this tent, they've renamed it, which makes no sense; the old name was better.

Anyywayyy, this is the best tent I've ever had!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Tent for Motorcycle Camping, September 27, 2009

POLES: Nice and light. It's practically impossible to err with these poles and they nearly assemble themselves.

PEGS: A funny thing to comment to on, but I found them to be strong and lightweight. I was surprised with their quality and Coleman includes the correct amount to properly stake out the tent (not always the case with more costly tents).

VESTIBULE: Basically for boots and that's about it.

MESH: Pretty perfect. I like to stargaze and this tent gives as nice an opportunity as you could ever want.

RAINFLY: Although there are advantages to a brightly-colored fly, I really like the color of this one and it works. It also employs my favorite kind of buckles for securing to the tent.

SIZE / WEIGHT: Here is the real beauty of this thing. It's packed size is a mere 18X7 and it only weighs 2 1/2 pounds!

DISCLAIMER: Some of the reviewers over 6ft tend to comment that this tent is too cramped. That may be. I am a smallish adult so it works beautifully for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good choice, May 8, 2008
I found this item on another website a year ago and have used it every season since. It's a great light alternative to most other tents, and if you're like me and are willing to experience a little cramped quarters for the sake of dropping ounces, you'll like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tent for the backpacker, April 18, 2010

Just bought this tent to replace a cheapo old-school one man tent that you have to tie down with rope and I wasn't disappointed. I was looking for a light backpacking tent that wasn't crazy expensive (price did go up $10 after I bought it though) and was of good quality. Had seen several cheaper ones derided for their pole quality, but this one stood up well this weekend. First off, it was very small in the bag and quite light. Big difference in my pack weight when combined with my new light weight mummy bag. Easy to assemble, directions are clear and even without them it's all color coded. The stakes are lightweight but careful not to hit rock as it'll bend them easily. Would've liked a tougher stake but they've gotta be light to reduce weight and that's what I was looking for, so I can deal. The two poles were shown to make a "U" shape but it was more of a lopsided kinda U with one end shorter, causing the tent to not be symmetrical on the sides. Not sure if mine was just weird that way as the directions showed the poles forming a symmetrical "U" shape. Irregardless it didn't effect anything, just an oddity. The poles were lightweight and strong, I wasn't rough when bending them but they withstood 20 mph winds so they seem great to me. The rainfly forms a nice little vestibule for boots and protection from direct wind, can't comment on its performance in wet weather but I'm sure it'd be fine. Great ventilation with the mesh. I'm 6'3" 220lbs and fit just fine inside, even with my pack so don't let it's size deter you. I had a few inches to spare even, plenty of room width wise as well and has a handy storage pouch inside for smaller things. All in all a great, lightweight tent for anyone that wants a combination of quality and value. I'd highly recommend it.
