I was at my local outdoors supplier (Sports Basement) when I saw this little unit among six or seven other competing brands. Of all the battery powered lanterns big and small, this one out shined them all!!! Even the D cell powered ones! Yes, I know that sounds exaggerated, but no. Well ok, I don't know how old the batteries were in the others on display, but I turned them all on one at a time to compare. I couldn't spend the money on it then and when I went back a few weeks later, they were all gone. I went to REI to see if they had them, but no. :( Thankfully Amazon has them. I'll probably buy a spare just in case they stop carrying them because I really like this lantern!Basically, if you want a small, light weight, relatively powerful battery powered lantern, you wouldn't be making a bad choice with this one. This really is a GREAT little lantern!

When our Coleman florescent bit the dust we were looking for something really small and powerful. This light is really nice, small and two brightness settings make this thing perfect for our little popup we pull with our motorcycle. The LED seems to be pretty frugal with the batteries although we only use it when necessary and turn it off. It has blinking light setting and I'm not sure what that is suppose to do. Seems rugged.
