We all have different bodies, so I will review for me. I am a big dude. 6'5" and about 325 pounds. Thick upper body due to years in the gym. I went this weekend and camped in Prince William Forest in Virginia. The wind chill hit 11 and the wind really got into my tent vents. When I climbed into my bag to crash out, it was like jumping into a cold pool in the spring. However, within 15 minutes, I was not only comfortable, but I could feel my skin getting warm to the touch. 30 minutes after climbing in and I felt like I was at home sleeping in my own bed. I was THAT warm.

My camping buddy was not so lucky. His bag was rated to 20 and he said he could not get warm all night. He even threw hot hands near his feet and held one in his hands. He also thought his face was going to freeze off. I didn't have that problem. Heat that was escaping my bag was radiating over my face. He opted not to stay the second night.....I refused to go home and waved goodbye.

Now, the bag it comes with sucks. Buy a good quality compression sack if you intend to strap it to your back on a primitive camp. Way too bulky. The bag is thick rolled up, but you can reduce it maybe 1/3 with a good compression sack. Will update when I do a primitive camp and try hiking in with it.

Pros:
Kept me warm.
Good size. Not claustrophobic feeling.
Fleece at feet helped warm them faster.

Cons:
Bulky with included bag
A little bit of a pain to roll up again due to thickness

My wife used this bag on a recent trip where the overnight temps were in the mid 20's. It kept her warm and toasty while wearing only a single layer of light clothing. As with any bag, achieving maximum warmth requires good insulation from the ground (we use an inflatable mattress and pad). It's too heavy and bulky for hiking, but perfect for car camping.

EDIT: I don't know why Amazon chose to move this review to the Large bag, because my original review was for the Regular sized version of this bag. I still stand behind my original review of that bag. My wife has used this bag for two other cold weather trips since then with no problems.

I bought this for sleeping outdoors in Southern California during the "winter" months and it doesn't disappoint. The interior of the bag didn't take more than a few minutes to warm up and once it did I started sweating inside my thermals. The bag is also very roomy: I toss and turn in my sleep and had enough room to comfortably move around, that goes for the head area too, you could easily fit a pillow in there if you wanted to. I only have 2 complaints about this bag: it's a pain to roll back up, my other Coleman bag had loops and hooks on the exterior to help you but this one doesn't. I would also like for the drawstring around the face hole to pull a little tighter; I pulled it as tight as I could and the hole was still big enough to easily stick my head out.

I bought this bag for car camping, I am not a small man, and I had plenty of room inside the bag and never felt restricted. I think it will be a great bag for cool or even mildly warm weather, but the maiden trip I took it on was a bit too cold for comfort. even though the over night temps were in the low 30's. I had a closed cell foam ground pad, wool socks, two layers of long johns, long sleeved t-shirt, mid weight wool tunic, and a wool hat on, and I was still just barely warm enough to sleep.

the bag has a small pocket on the inside near opening of the hood, which is handy for keeping a small flashlight or other convenience handy during the night. my only complaints about the bag really aren't huge issues, but the draft tube/baffle didn't really seem very effective, & being right handed, having the zipper along the left side of the body made it very awkward to close the bag, I ended up needing both hands to operate the zipper.

I have to admit, I have not used this in sub-zero temps. I did, however, use it when the indoor temp at a hunting camp was about 25 degrees. I actually had to vent once in a while because it was so warm inside.

Got up in the middle of the night to answer nature's call, dreading having to crawl back into the bag (it has the same nylon inside and out). The first thing I noticed is that, although it was cool, it hadn't lost as much heat as I'd expected. I got in, zipped up, shivered for about 27 seconds and was then toasty again. That lining also makes it easy to move around (I'm a toss-and-turner when I sleep) without dragging the bedding with you.

Along with keeping me more than warm enough, it's also very roomy.......and I'm 6'2 and roughly 250 pounds. There was no feeling of confinement that I get with smaller bags, and no need to go fetal just to fit end-to-end. As you can see from the pics, it doesn't have that "mummy" shape that barely provides room for your feet. Made for a comfortable night.

One last thing about the warmth; mentioning feet reminded me that even they were warm because the bag retains body heat so well. I would absolutely recommend this for larger people (or skinny couples!) or anyone who just wants room to move in a warm sleeping bag. The only caution is that I wouldn't recommend using it in warmer weather; it would be a way lot of overkill. This is most definitely a really cold weather bag.
