Wash Basin, PVC Double

Amazon.com

Kitchen patrol, otherwise known as "KP," certainly isn't the best part of camping, but with the Coleman Double Wash Basin, it's at least over in a hurry. The double-sided, collapsible sink lets you wash and rinse your dishes simultaneously, saving time and getting you back to the outdoor fun as quickly as possible.

Four handles allow you to pick up and move the durable basin, which is constructed of rugged PVC material. The basin measures 20-by-six-by-ten-inches (W x H x D), and each "sink" is ten-by-ten inches (W x D). Six support rods keep the entire device sturdy, even when full of water and dishes.

A century later, Coleman's current catalog features a wide-ranging array of products that make spending time outside a pleasure. The company crafts coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days, airbeds that are comfortable and won't deflate during the night, a complete line of bright and long-lasting LED lights, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and more.

My husband used this when camping. After the hot water was poured in, the basin became very soft and pliable. After about half way through washing dishes the first time, a hole came in the rinse side. He did not get one whole load of dishes washed. He expected better from Coleman. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PRODUCT!!

I attempted to use this item on my camping trip and it proved to not be usefull at all. The sides of the wash basin do not stay up so you can wash the dishes and keep all of your water in. When we used it the sides were always colapsing whether there was a lot or a little water in the basin. I will not be using this item again. most likely throw it away.

I recently used this item on a 3-day camping trip. We used it everyday after each meal and had absolutely no problem with it.I did not carried it full with water instead I sat it on the bench and filled it with water (only half). It is quite spacious, we put 2 big plates and pur frying pan and other utensils and washed them all. When it was time to empty it, we lifted it with no problem. I like it and will be using it on our next trips.

I really despised this Coleman PVC sink and it now lives in my bin of rejected and unloved camping gear. I gave it a chance, but it is too small to be useful and very unstable. With hot water, it feels like a child's pool toy that's been left out in the sun. It was a waste of money. It won't last and will soon end up in a landfill. There are far better products out there. Seattle Sports Pack Sinks are larger and tougher. I use two of them when car camping. It costs more, but it works and makes the whole camping experience that much more enjoyable. Problem solved. You don't need to settle for this chintzy and cramped little piece of junk. Spend a little more for something that works and that you can depend on. Go big or stay home.

Now that the kids have move out we sold the mini van and downsized to a tiny two door hatchback. This meant that we had to downsize our camping gear. The one thing that we thought would be hard to downsize were the wash basins. They are just so big to pack....or so we thought!! Thank goodness we found the Coleman folding double wash basin. It folds flat and pops up to a reasonable size for doing our camp dishes.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the plastic carry bag is as small as they could possibly make it which makes putting the basin away rather difficult. Too bad they didn't spare a bit more on a decent carry bag.

We've used this on two camping trips now and it has definitely made our clean-up process go more smoothly. I didn't have any problems with the sides collapsing, but I made a point of NOT pouring boiling (or close to boiling) water into it. Doing so would soften the plastic and I suspect make it more vulnerable to holes from utensils or other sharp edges while washing. The water I poured into it was heated over the fire pit, but only to a point where it was barely too hot to touch.

Each 'sink' is about 10 inches wide/deep, so you won't be able to fit large camping pans in here. However, the size is large enough to hold a handful of bowls/plates/cups while having utensils soaking at the bottom. Also, while I couldn't wash our pans/pots in these sinks - it was still useful to have the hot, soapy water in a convenient place, as I was able to use a cup to pour some of it into the bigger cookware for soaking.

Because of the smallish size, the soapy sink side will get grubby very fast if you try washing/soaking dishes that still have a lot of food or gunk on them. What we did was first rinse off our dishes with a scrub brush & cold lake/camp water, and then wash it in the hot/soapy water from there (basically like what you'd do before loading a dishwasher). The rinse side was a little less effective, as it seemed to collect too many bubbles after rinsing off a lot of dishes from the soapy side. We ended up doing one more rinse cycle from the pour spout of our cold water container, which worked great.

If you do a lot of camping, I think this will come in handy for you. If not, it was only ten bucks and not that big of a loss. I removed a star because I still needed a 2nd rinse step after using the tubs, but I'm glad I made the purchase and would recommend it. It collapses & sets back up easily, so it's easy to store & tote around.

We bought this double sink becaue we go camping every year and my father in law always uses a plastic tub. The picture is a little deceiving because it is tiny. Despite its size it still worked well, but if I had realized how small it was I would have gone with a different sink. The fact that it is double definitely made the purchase worth it though. As long as you wash as you go and you have a smaller group it will work well.

I really liked the idea of this piece & went ahead and got it. Definately works well, I didn't have a problem at all with the sides collapsing and water flowing out?? Not sure what the other reviewr experienced or why, but I found it to function just perfectly. I did however have a hard time walking back from the water spigot at the camp site to our kitchen tent with the double sink filled. I had to actually have someone else help me. We use our camp kitchen sink to wash dishes, one side of this collapsible sink to rinse and the other side we use with clean clear water + a capful of bleach to sanitize our dishware.
