Not so heavy duty,

I used 13 of these stakes over Memorial Day weekend and 3 of them bent. By comparison, I used 12 MSR Ground Hog stakes on a separate tent and none of them bent. Get the Ground Hogs, you'll get what you pay for: MSR Ground Hog Stake Kit.

First off these are not bad tent stakes.Pros Inexpensive, Small, Light Weight. Sturdy enough for most episodic campers. Easy to store and carry. Cons Head is small, cutout is shallow and may be easy to slip out of. short length good for tents in mild to moderate weather. If you have a large tent that likes to really sail away in the wind and you are going to be doing some serious frequent camping more than 2-3 times a year, probably better to get the MSR Ground Hog Stake Kit. But if you bend a few so what? At less than 1/2 the cost, not a big deal. One trick is to start the stake in rock hard dry ground, get the tent secured then take a cup full of water, punch some fine holes in the bottom and let it soak into the ground around the stake. May take several refills to soften the ground. Then drive in the stake the rest of the way.

Every gram counts when you are backpacking!,

I purchased these before a bike/backpacking trip to False Cape State Park in Virginia. I've got the standard tent stakes that come with every tent but needed something a bit more substantial as I was setting my tent in sand. These stakes were long enough and shaped in a way that they held admirably in the sand, didn't budge an inch. Also they are very lightweight and are easy to sink without much added effort. Every gram counts when you are backpacking. 100% Recommended!

The head/notch is a little small from some uses, but otherwise a very decent tent/rope stake. Lightweight but durable.

I just found them lacking...I like a hook or something at the end better these are just straight.

These are nice stakes that fit th bill but they could be improved upon. They could use a bigger notch or a head at the top to improve resistance to slip over from tent lines. also they do bend fairly easile when used in hard or rocky soil, but i guess that is just to be expected

I bought these as a gift for a friend...they were recieved well and judging by what was said...these are very sturdy. They did feel light in hand, even if they were a bit big compared to my own 'nail-type' pegs.

I bought these and took them camping this weekend, they are all bent up, but they kept my tent down. I will be able to use them again. If I had paid more than $10 I would probably return them, but at $3 I am happy.

Easy to carry these in my backpack. Did not bend, held in ground well and worked great to hold down our tent in high wind.

I bought these exact stakes from my local Target about a year ago. Anyways, a few buddies and myself went camping at Allegany Mtns. (known to have pretty rocky ground). A few went in very nicely, a few others had the ends snapped right off. The end with the cloth handle for pulling them out of the ground. To this day there are red stakes stuck in the ground at Allegany Mtns. A reminder to choose a different brand, a different metal.
