4.0 out of 5 stars Fun sleeping bag
Bought this for my 5 yr old son, he adores it. He likes having a big boy mummy sleeping bag. Kept him very warm without overheating and had sufficient padding for outdoors and carpeted areas. The zipper is easy for him to use, he can get in and out without help. He likes the "pocket" inside for his toy cars. The bag was smaller than I would have preferred, but he will...

3.0 out of 5 stars Borderline too small
This was big enough for our 10 year old now, but he only had 3-4" to spare. We wanted one for him to use throughout scouting, so we returned it for a full size Coleman (Coleman Taos 25-Degree Mummy Sleeping Bag). Both were nice high quality bags - great for kids.

4.0 out of 5 stars Suprisingly Great, January 3, 2010

For the price and the brand (Coleman has been quite disappointing in the last 2 decades) I was not expecting much.
But this little bag turned out to be a great little bag. Don't get me wrong, it's not what you'd put your kid in if you are headed to Banff in September, but it does the trick for most 3-season outings.
Held it up to the sun, and the baffling is pretty even. not bad for a $30 bag.
Zipper glide and pull are chunky and easy to work with small fingers - even glo-in-the-dark. And THANK YOU Coleman - for not forcing the usual super-Lame color schemes which stereotype our children into PINK and BLUE crapola.
The grey /green looks like an actual piece of gear instead of some sort of bad Disney marketing casualty.
Is Coleman finally making good stuff again? stay tuned. So far this one is a hit in my book.

I just received my sleeping bag and although I haven't tried it out in the wild yet, I can attest to a few things already. 1) It's well made. Good materials. Not high end, but for this price, I'm happy. 2) Actual weight that you'll be carrying is 2 lbs. 8.5 oz.

I'm 5'2" and I fit fairly snugly into the bag zipped up. If you want more wiggle room and you're my height, I would suggest a longer bag. This bag is great. Will put it to the test this weekend and give an update.

4.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for pt. 2, July 6, 2009

I bought this for my three year old son who absoultely loves it. Used it for six nights of desert camping with good success. The seam on the non zippered side is coming apart already but can easily be fixed for next to nothing. It's a good size for a child still growing, he should be able to use it for at least a couple more years.

5.0 out of 5 stars cozy warm, October 22, 2009

We took a camping trip with these when the temp went down to about 32 degrees. My guys were snug and cozy. Our youngest son never even woke up during the night and we never heard a single complaint about it being too cold. Only downside is that the carry bags are very snug so a child would not be able to roll their own bags and stow them away. That has to be a grown up job.
Overall - we're big fans of these bags.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally a really good kids sleeping bag, October 13, 2010

A little background: I have been on a personal quest for the last 6 months or so to find a sleeping bag for my 7 year old daughter (about 53" and 60#) that 1) she could take on backpacking trips, 2) would not be to so heavy that she could not carry any other gear, 3) would actually stuff down to a reasonable size and wouldn't take up her entire 30L backpack and 4) didn't cost as much as a regular adult sleeping bag. I have tried bags from other manufacturers and none compressed very well. I mean I could barely get a Eureka bag to stuff into the same stuff sack that I use for my 0* military synthetic fill bag and don't even think about trying to get it into her backpack. So on trips I would let her use one of my bags since they would compress down atleast small enough to fit in her pack, and they work most of the year in FL since it doesn't get too cold. Now I have seen the more expensive, High-end bags and they would also fit the bill however who wants to spend over $100 on a sleeping bag for a 7 year old, now admittedly she loves camping and backpacking so it would not have been a bad investment for the next two to three years. Well, if I was going to spend $100 why wouldn't I just by her an adult bag? At least then she could use it for the next 15 years or more. But, if you have ever camped in 30* weather in a 30* bag that is twice your size you would know why that is not the best option. Basically, your body can't produce enough heat to warm the bag so you end up being cold all night. So, I finally stumbled onto this bag and I was actually skeptical since most manufacturers just make a mummy bag shaped sleeping bag filled with the same junk fill that is used in their rectangular sleeping bags that they sell at Wally World. So I did some research and looked at the type of fill and compared it to the adult bags that use the same fill and tried to estimate how well it would compress. I have found throughout this quest that manufacturers don't do a good job of telling you how well their sleeping bags compress; they just tell you what the dimensions of their, most often times inadequate, stuff sacks are. So I am happy to report that this bag compresses down very small and takes up proportionally about the same amount of room in her bag that my sleeping bag takes up in mine.

Now on to the important stuff. Does she like the bag? In short she loves it. She really likes the glow in the dark constellations on the liner. A quick word on that, store the bag inside out so that the glow in the dark stuff can absorb as much light as possible so then they will actually glow in the dark when you need them to. She also likes that she has more room in her backpack for the real important stuff like her pillow and a stuffed animal (or two in fact).

So all in all I (and my daughter) am very happy with this bag. For less than $40 she can use it for a few years before she grows out of it and I don't feel bad about sending her to the backcountry unprepared.

Bought this for our 4 and 2 year old sons. They both love it! Plenty of room for them, but still stayed toasty warm on a rainy, 35 degree night.

A great sleeping bag. My son (age 7) was very warm camping in Lake Tahoe in May at above 6,500 ft above sea level and loved the glow in the dark lining!
