4.0 out of 5 stars Decent Grill
I have this same grill but with a blue lid. This is a quality peice of hardware, it has a heavy porcelain coated cast iron grate and a grease drip pan underneath and it's compact in size so you can stick it in your trunk for tailgating at concerts or ball games.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great grill, but not for me.
As other reviewers have stated, this grill is good for burgers, dogs, and steaks when you're tailgating. I did grill some egg plant and it was ok as well. My problem is that I love to cook chicken thighs when I'm camping, and it doesn't work well for that. I don't marinate them or put bbq sauce on them until I'm done cooking and it doesn't make a difference except it's...

I have this same grill but with a blue lid. This is a quality peice of hardware, it has a heavy porcelain coated cast iron grate and a grease drip pan underneath and it's compact in size so you can stick it in your trunk for tailgating at concerts or ball games.

Pros:
1. Works well when it's windy outside
2. Cast iron grate retains heat so it cooks evenly
3. Compact size
4. Quality build (except the slot and hook catch for the lid and
sides)

Cons:
1. Get's very messy and greasy, be sure to use aluminum foil under
the grate for easier cleaning.
2. Can't cook with the lid closed, so it's really only useful for
burgers and dogs.
3. The hooks that keep the lid and sides up don't hold very well
if you bump into it, but not a huge problem.

If you are using this at tailgate parties I recommend bringing paper towels and some kind of degreaser to wipe it down, as well as a wire brush to clean the grate. Bring some kind of box or bag to store it in so you don't get grease in your trunk.

Living in Florida, I bought the Coleman 9924-750 Perfect Flow InstaStart Table Top Propane Grill for after hurricanes and the loss of power. I also bought it so I can grill on my patio. The set up is easy and clean up is quick. To ease cleanup, I line the bottom with foil and poke a hole where it drains into the grease cup. It works great.

As other reviewers have stated, this grill is good for burgers, dogs, and steaks when you're tailgating. I did grill some egg plant and it was ok as well. My problem is that I love to cook chicken thighs when I'm camping, and it doesn't work well for that. I don't marinate them or put bbq sauce on them until I'm done cooking and it doesn't make a difference except it's easier to clean. It doesn't matter if you bring it up to temperature before you throw them on, and don't move them for awhile. It still sticks. Cleanup is a nightmare because it's a one piece grate that's pretty large. What I've found works better than this for camping (gas grills aren't real grilling anyway) is a Lodge reversible cast iron griddle. It has a griddle on one side and a grill on the other. It's cast iron and comes pre-seasoned. It's a ton easier to clean and I actually use this Coleman grill to heat it up. I'm even thinking of tossing the grill grate from this unit to lose the additional travel weight. If I were a big hot dog and hamburger eater, this unit would get 5 stars. I'm more apt to cook a turkey burger, which would stick to this grill like pine sap on a hairy arm.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Grill, but it can't be used with cover down., October 11, 2009

Coleman has for years made products that I like, including camping lanterns and small gas stoves. For this reason I automatically assumed that I could cook with the lid down; there are times when I want to keep rolls warm. However, this lid is too shallow because it only rests a couple of inches above the grilling surface. It turns out this this is really a minor problem; the side wings store inward and rest directly on the griddle, and the lid is physically unable to close. These wings work excellently to keep wind out when cooking, or are to be used as shelves when open. The heatins seems well distributed and my steaks came out well regardless of location on the grill. This grill with withstand some fairly rough handling when closed. The pushbutton lighting system is excellent.
Don't be afraid to hook this grill to a larger tank with a suitable flexible gas line -- just remember to shut off the gas each time when finished cooking; better yet, you may want to disconnect it after each use, depending upon the environment you're in. The inability to use this with the lid closed may be a drawback to some users, otherwise I think this is an excellent product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing buy - great for almost anything, September 1, 2008
This review is from: Coleman PerfectFlow Insta Start Propane Grill (Sports)
We use it for bbqs, tailgating, camping, and anything you can think of.
The instant-start ignition is awesome and it has always worked great. You can usually buy 2 cans of coleman/generic brand gas at Walmart for about $5 so it's definitely not costly to run it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Grill, August 20, 2010
This review is from: Coleman PerfectFlow Insta Start Propane Grill (Sports)
I love how this grill works. I've had portable gas grills in the past and they never stayed lit or not hot enough, but this grill is plenty hot and stays lit. Cooks food very quickly and is easy to clean. I use it on the front of my deck boat by putting it on a table cloth and no hot spot on the outside surface or any mess.

I've used this grill many times when I'm out in the field. It carries like a suitcase. You just open it up and screw your propane bottle on it and your ready to grill. The InstaStart feature works every time...so far and the coating on the grill makes for easy clean up.

3.0 out of 5 stars HARD TO CLEAN, December 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Coleman PerfectFlow Insta Start Propane Grill (Sports)
I purchased this item for my sister, who likes to have barbecue all the times. It is nicely designed. Hard to turn on and lit. Make sure to purchase the carrying deck. If not you have to come up with a solution to keep it elevated. It is much bigger and bulkier than it looks on the picture. Because it is very hard to clean, my sister used it only a couple of times.

This product is junk! They replaced the nice heavy duty cast iron grates that this grill used to come with with this cheap tin crap that warped the 3rd time we used it. Don't buy it!
