The lantern is suitable as an emergency light or small camp or tent light. At the high power setting it provides illumination suitable for reading in a five foot radius; at the lower setting about three feet. The weight with batteries is about three pounds. Although not as sturdy as one with a metal casing, it can withstand moderate bumps, but dropping it is problematic with respect to internal damage.

This Lantern was a great buy for the price. Works great, plenty of light and compact!!

This is a great product at a great value. The low setting provides more than enough lighting for the inside of a two person tent or for food prep. or a game of cards around the picnic table. Long battery life too- I didn't need to replace them once over a 3 day outing. My only complaint is that the flourescent glow is a little harsh compared to gas/propane lanterns. Well worth the $20 price tag.

I ALREADY HAD 2 LANTERNS WHICH I LOVE AND HAVE USED SEVERAL TIMES. THEY CREATE PLENTY OF LIGHT TO EVEN PUT YOUR MAKEUP ON IN THE MORNING. BOUGHT 2 FOR MY ELDERLY MOM AS ELECTRIC SERVICE KEPT GOING OUT AND SHE WAS USING CANDLES - WHICH SCARED US ALL. WE ARE ALL VERY HAPPY WITH THESE LANTERNS AND BATTERIES LAST SEVERAL YEARS INSIDE THE LANTERNS.

This is a great product. It is wonderful for those nights that the electricity goes out. Spreads a large amount of light for a small battery usage. I have three of them and they have come in very handy. I am sure they would be great for camping as well

This is one of our emergency light sources, so it doesn't get used often. Even so, bulb burned out in less than a couple of uses. Actually good light while it lasted, but too much of a battery hog to use for non emergencies. The plastic "globe" cracked, even though it hasn't been dropped or abused. Not too noticeable, but obviously not durable. It's back to my hurricane lamps and flashlights because the little replacement bulb is over $7 and free AmazonPrime shipping isn't available. >:(

Eats batteries and bulb does not last long. In fact, the bulb lasted one season--that is not acceptable even at this price.
