When I'm going on a family camping trip where there is no packing involved and all I have to do is set up the tent and gear, I always take along this Coleman flocked Queen size bed for my wife and I. It is pretty easy to inflate (especially with the Quickpump), and is so comfortable I sometimes almost forget I'm sleeping on the ground. We also use this mattress a lot at home when we have lots of company and don't have enough beds to go around.

My one complaint with this bed, and one which I have heard others share, is that it is not big enough. It is supposed to be a queen size bed, but it just doesn't seem as large as our queen size bed at home. Aside from this minor complaint, however, the Coleman flocked mattress has served me well. In fact, I slept on one for the first month I was away from home at college, and was still satisfied with its comfort after sleeping on it for over four weeks.

4.0 out of 5 stars well worth it, May 20, 2005

I originally bought this air mattress for camping. I got it after having a problem with another brand that did not thave the double air lock. I have never had a problem with deflation while I was using it. I recently had a change in my marital status and in my "bedding" and I am now using this air mattress every night, and find it as comfortable as a regular bed. I am glad I made this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars i love this bed, October 21, 2007

when my waterbed heater broke about 2 years ago i couldn't afford a new one so i bought a cheap air bed. it developed a hole i couldn't find and lost air very quickly. since i needed a new bed i checked prices and reviews on all of them. this bed got rave reviews from the people who had one so i bought it. it was affordable. i sleep on it every night and it's amazingly comfortable. the suede top keeps me warm on cold nights. i had a minor problem filling it. the double lock valve leaked a lot of air when i pulled the pump out so i tried something new and it worked. i just push in the first part of the valve with the pump and then close the top. no air leakage. i did have to add air after the first few nights but that's expected. i sleep on it and so do my cats. it does not lose air and it's so comfortable i can sleep all night. definitely worth the money.

I purchased this for many reasons, one being that this was an "all in one" with the pump and "wrap n roll" storage, etc... which I could not find on the shelf at the stores. This was an "ok" purchase. But I would spend more on a better bed and purchase the pump separately... just to not have to be re-filling the bed with air consistently. I sent the first one back (my friends had to wake up in the middle of the night to re-fill the bed with air) and the replacement was better, but it leaked too (but you can't hear the leak... it just goes flat... the replacement would last a day rather than needing overnight refills). I've never been disappointed with ANYTHING Coleman prior to this purchase. I wish I could say it is better than it is, but it's just "ok" for the product and the price. Probably worth paying more or checking another product line (I also thought this would be a better purchase based on other reviews... everyone else seemed to have better luck with this than I did... maybe a 3rd try would have been a charm?).

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy to set up, more comfortable than previous models, July 21, 2008
This review is from: Coleman Quickbed With 4D Pump (Sports)
I purchased this air mattress kit a few weeks ago, and I'm very happy with it. The chambered design provides a sturdy sleep surface that is much firmer than the old-style tube mattresses. With the older models, even after filling the mattress completely, one could put a knee down in the middle of it and feel the hard ground beneath. Coleman seems to have alleviated this with this newer model -- when it's pumped up, it's an actual firm mattress.

The battery-powered pump that comes with it seems dinky, being not much bigger than the four D cell batteries that are required to operate it, but it fills the entire mattress in less than a minute. If you've ever stood around stomping on one of those manual foot pumps for fifteen minutes, you'll really appreciate this little pump.

The lock valve works well when the pump is removed, too. This gives the user a chance to actually screw the cap on, instead of fumbling around trying to screw it in while the bed deflates.

Storage is easy. With its built-in sling bag and simple directions, just deflate, fold, role, and tie. Ta-da! Done, and it takes up about as much room as a small laptop computer bag.

A good, comfortable air mattress for those who are a little past the age where a quarter inch of foam will suffice.

This inflatable bed suited our needs very well. We were flying to visit family who did not have enough beds. We had this bed shipped direct to their location. The cost was very reasonable and was easier than carrying the bed as luggage. Set up was easy though the instructions were not well detailed. My two kids slept on it for a week and said it was comfy but cold. A blanket layered under the bottom sheet solved this problem. The bed held its inflation for the week despite two kids flopping down on it. It rolls up and has self ties so we could easily carry it back on the plane.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sleep like a baby!, November 22, 2009

This review is from: Coleman Quickbed With 4D Pump (Sports)
I have had trouble sleeping for years now. The first time I slept on an air mattress was at a friend's home over a Labor Day Weekend. The first night I slept for 10 straight hours; the second night I slept for 9 straight hours. The only explanation for this phenomenon was the air mattress. Within two months I bought one for myself and laid it right on top of my queen size bed. I don't recall the brand, but within six months it developed a leak at the valve. The instructions indicated that if the leak was at the valve, the mattress could not be repaired. I paid $40 for the mattress on sale.

I tried sleeping on my regular mattress for nearly two months, but all I experienced was sleepless nights. When I began my search for a new air mattress, Amazon turned up with a highly rated mattress at a reasonable cost. I love my Coleman air mattress. It feels sturdier than the last one and holds air slightly better. Air will eventually leak out of any air mattress, but I only have to give this one a small shot about every 10 days to 2 weeks, not even that if I want to experience a less firm feeling.

I don't know how long this mattress will last, but it's a lot cheaper than a memory foam mattress or the sleep number beds(neither of which do I think is nearly as comfortable). Some people wouldn't even think of using this as a primary bed. It may not be for children or active adults, but for this senior it's perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars superior comfort. easy storage. not such a great pump, January 16, 2008
This review is from: Coleman Quickbed With 4D Pump (Sports)
I purchased the queen sized model and it has been excellent for both my wife and I. The quick roll-up feature is great for packing and storing away. You will notice little difference in comfort from a good mattress to this inflatable version. As with all air mattresses, they will eventually leak, but mine lasted for over a year. ((It could be more due to the fact that mine is resting on a very rough sisal rug every night than the strength of the mattress.))

I have no complaints other then spending tons of money on 4-d batteries to run the pump. The batteries will begin to wear down after about 7-10 inflations and then inflation takes FOREVER and you will not get the mattress fully pumped up. Otherwise, inflation goes VERY quickly, and you get a very nice, firm inflation within about 3 mins. I will buy the electric pump next time. I think that may be more economical.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very comfortable and a great nights rest, September 20, 2005
This review is from: Coleman Quickbed With 4D Pump (Sports)
Very comfortable and a great nights rest for those who find they can't sleep on the hard ground anymore. Only drawback would be the pump that came with it. Didn't seem to be designed for the mattress and you have to line up the nozzle and pump for it to work. I would have expected a tighter fit. But it worked and I look forward to using it more in the future.

Pros:

- This bed's comfortable! I slept on it for a week, and while it isn't a bed at a top quality hotel, it's more than OK in a pinch.

- The wrap scheme is a nice touch. In the product photo, the black bit coming out of the bottom right hand corner is actually a nylon sheet. After folding the inflatable part, the bed rolls up, and the nylon sheet wraps around, tying the package up. There's a convenient handle to the back to allow for easy carrying.

- Instead of a valve, the bed relies instead on a two-plug system. The nipple snaps down, to plug the inlet from both the inside and outside. This works well to prevent air leakage, but I could see how the soft plastic/rubber inlet could tear with heavy usage, thereby rendering the bed completely inoperable. However, after a week, with intermittent re-inflating (and therefore opening the closing the inlet a few times), no problem. This just looks like a wear and tear item.

Cons:

- The pump isn't the greatest. It's exceptionally loud (think a good-sized hair dryer), and not only that, there's no seal. You effectively match up the hole in the matress inlet to the hole in the pump. In effect, pressure on the inlet is the only thing preventing air to seep out when reinflating. Not a great design.

Overall, a comfortable, nice and firm mattress that could or should have a better inlet and pump design. Nevertheless, on the basis of comfort and the thick-feeling plastic used in the part to be lied upon, it doesn't feel overpriced.
