Got Coleman to replace it, but the new one wouldn't hold a charge after the first use.
Dennis E. Roundtree
The battery requires 18 hours to be fully charged, and then it only holds the charge for a few hours at most.
R. Lillig
And they have discontinued the blender so I guess Coleman realized that it does not work.

What would be nicer than a lovely, civilized frozen daiquiri or icy margarita on those hot summer camping trips in the wild? Yeah, that's what I always thought too, so I've been waiting for years for a battery-powered blender to come along. Not a bit surprised when Coleman ended up to be the first company to try it. Only problem is - it just doesn't work.

The blender is well designed on the outside; handsome pitcher and solid base. Even has a nifty compartment to hold the AC adapter and the car lighter adapter so you don't lose them. What a nice idea to even include both for maximum flexibility! I thought these guys had it nailed.

But, of course, if you're buying this, those are just thoughtful extras. You need the rechargeable battery part to work, and I'm afraid it very simply doesn't. Struggles to accept a charge, and doesn't hold it. Either that, or the motor on mine was busted - not really sure. What I do know is that it's heavy, and if I'm gonna drag it along camping, I better get me some margaritas for my trouble. Sadly, this blender failed to bring forth even a single, lonely daiquiri.

It really boggles the mind how something with such a giant, purpose-defeating flaw (which is apparently commonplace based on the reviews) would ever make it to market. But that's Coleman for you - plenty of brilliant ideas, but build quality and general execution can be hit or miss.

And the Coleman Rechargeable Portable Blender: EPIC MISS.

Well, I purchased one of these blenders for an obvious purpose. From day 1 it did not work and would not charge. I have an Associate of Engineering degree, so I started to look for the problem and found it. It seems that Coleman (or the OEM) installed defective gel/SLA batteries in these units (there are two inside the base). I contacted Coleman and they replaced the unit with another one with the EXACT same problem! I decided to purchase two new batteries (6V 4.5Ah) on my own, replaced them and the unit is GREAT! This came at a cost to me, since the batteries were $30. Oh well, but no one else offers such blenders and I do like mine...now that it works.

My Coleman rechargeable blender RULES. I purchased 3. 1 for myself and 2 for friends who are fly fishing guides. One of them just told me his tips are way up based on Margarita breaks with clients. I carry mine in my drift boat and it's perfect for blended cocktails on the river. Look, my blender at home is more powerful, but it doesn't work in the middle of nowhere! My Coleman crushes ice and makes a drink that far exceeds anyone's expectations.

Jimmy Buffett... Margartitaville... tailgating... they go hand in hand.

Unfortunately they do not go hand in hand with the Coleman Rechargeable Portable Blender. I followed the instructions and even charged it as instructed. However as most other reviews state, the battery did not hold a charge and later easily shorted out completely. The return policy was disappointing to say the least. At the price that I paid it made it simply easier to throw the blender out rather than pay to send it back and then receive a refurbished blender that would most likely encounter the same problem.

If you are looking for a realistic way to tailgate then I suggest buying a regular blender that operates at 600 watts or less and a power converter that can handle 600 watts. Buy the cables that act as a direct line to your car battery and you are in business. You will get as much power and strength out of a blender as if it were hooked up directly at home.

Boat drinks, Rum Runners and Margaritas for everyone.

So we got this blender for Christmas. We thought it was an awesome idea for camping.
About a year later (After warranty expired) we finally broke it out of the box to use it. It would not take a charge, and will not run. The light in the front just blinks.

Since it's out of warranty, I decided to open it up and just check for a loose wire.

Found out this thing is built terribly.

From the factory, it's missing some screws inside it. You can see where they designed it to have them, but they were never installed.

Wires were not routed correctly inside it and that was causing them to get pinched real bad.
The batteries are UB645 6V batteries x2, and they seem to be defective, but this could have been because we waited to use it. (Although they should last longer)

While the motor seems nice and beefy, there was no lubricant on the gear running the blade, this will cause it to wear out faster.

I hooked this unit up to a 12V power supply (plenty big to run it) and it still would not operate.

Seems to be a bad control board (it's mounted just behind the "Blend" button. The motor is big and beefy, and this take a little more power to operate, and the control board doesn't seem to be able to make that happen.

Coleman, I hope you see this review. Awesome idea, built poorly.
