Product Description

You can count on the light you need with the Coleman Rechargeable Lantern that operates up to 10 hours before recharging. Ideal for use in large-style tents, this nonmetal lantern is weather resistant, rugged and lightweight—with a rust-resistant silvertone handle for carrying or hanging. Three-position switch lets you operate 2 tubes or 1 tube for an extended run time; tube replacement is simple and requires no tools. Lantern recharges from 110-volt or 12-volt, and the recyclable battery can be recharged up to 1000 cycles. Unique circuitry allows operation at lower temperatures and longer run time on a single charge. A built-in storage compartment inside the base stores charging adapters. We have two of these lanterns, and I am buying a third as a gift for my son who lives in the DC area. But we do not use ours for "outdoor" activities as the introduction would lead you to believe.
We use ours every time we have a power outage - usually in the winter.
After using them, I just remove the bottom door and plug them into an outlet so that they will be fully powered the next time we need them - no worry about batteries leaking, or being 'borrowed' from the lantern for use in a toy...........
They get us through our 'darkest days'.

This lantern is great for camping and power outages because you don't have to mess around with propane, especially important with small children around. I noticed that this one offers a 110 recharge, ours doesn't. Only 12V. It would be even better with the 110 option. One downfall - I have had a difficult time finding replacement bulbs. I recently found some to get it ready for this summer and the price of the two bulbs was almost as much as buying a new lantern.

I didn't want to use a propane or other fuel lantern, they seem so dangerous and they are so noisy. I was also tired of buying D sized batteries. When we found this lantern, we were thrilled and it was great when we were camping. We used it every night for at least 3 hours a night and it hasn't needed recharging yet. We plan on buying at least one more for our next trip.

This little lantern puts out a tremendous amount of light without the safety hazards posed by candles, propane or kerosene lanterns. We use ours for camping and for emergency lighting during hurricane season and it never disappoints. Also great for those trips out to the yard or garage in the dark since it's much brighter than a flashlight and not much heavier.

We have one of these lanterns and find that it doesn't put out enough light to be very useful, especially on the low setting. Even at the high setting it puts out just enough light so you can see to not trip over things in the dark.

We like the fact that it's rechargeable by either 12V or 110V so that we don't have to keep supplying it with batteries.

I've owned two of these things and, in my experience, these didn't live up to Coleman's usual high quality. If you drop this thing on the ground from picnic-table height, kiss it good-bye. The plastic holding the batteries in on the bottom of the lantern is hard and is easily cracked.

Additionally the fluorescent light just isn't aesthetically pleasing if you're camping. If you're using it out back by the pool, maybe, but not by the fire in Yellow Stone.

Go with the gas lanterns, better quality and better light.
