My husband and I lived on a cruising sailboat for 6 years and used a SunShower exclusively for 6+ months a year. They were great! We really could get a decent shower with it (we used one bag of water for the two of us) including both of us washing long hair.

Several notes:

In the tropics, be careful that the water does not get so hot that you scald yourself.

With time, the plastic hose may work itself loose from the bag, or the nozzle from the house. A little silicone sealant worked wonders.

One of these would last about 6 months in the tropical sun.

If placing the bag on a rough surface to heat, put a towel or something under it so that it won't wear through too fast as you pick it up and put it down every day.

Don't hang this to heat if you intend to use it every day -- the weight will tear the top hanger off if used all the time. We laid it flat to warm up, then hung it just long enough to shower.

This works very well. Made of good materials, it has held up very well. Depending on ambient temperature, it heats fairly quickly. On an average 60 - 70 degree sunny day, just put it out in the morning and in a couple of hours you have enough hot water for a couple of showers and a round of dishes. Of course, colder or cloudy days it takes longer and won't get more than lukewarm. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Used this portable shower at the beach this past weekend and it was great. It's nice to be able to go home at the end of the day without being totally covered in sand. Only comment is that the hose for the shower is really short. We had a privacy shelter right next to our vehicle and had the shower on top of our vehicle because it is very heavy when full, but the hose wasn't long enough to reach the shelter. We made due this past weekend with a little bit of ingenuity, but we will be going to the local hardware store to purchase some longer hose.

The Stearns SunShower 5 gallons I received is not like in the picture and description information of the advertisement. I purchased two and both are like the the 4 gallon or smaller style without the 1 inch carrying strap that can be put into the tube and hung up. The ability to hang the sunshower is impossible and carrying with the water weight starts tearing the plasic around the holding spot of the the SunShower on top. A totally different style shipped than I expected like from the picture. Doesn't work well like the ones in the picture I had used before.

Does what it is supposed to. Rare these days. We use it for 3 months a year. Just don't hang it while trying to heat up water, bag will rip, directions say to lay down

I bought this sunshower back in 2009, it's 2011 and it is still in great shape after lots of camping. I have never really had the water heat up, but that is because we are usually in heavily wooded areas. Instead I have always filled it about 3/4 and then boiled water, and siphoned the boiling water into it to create a wonderful hot shower in the woods. This product has heald up to the test of time and multiple showers a day for multiple trips. It goes great with my homemade shower inclosure.

This shower works great. It heats up quick and is very well constructed. Heavy duty for years of service. I bought two and only used one camping at Cumberland Island this year and will not go again without them.

Camped for a week at a festival in Washington on the Olympic peninsula and was abled to take a hot shower almost every day. Just threw this thing up on the hood of my Element as we were car camping and in the sun it works great. Sat on a bucket in front of the vehicle and just took a sitting shower. It didn't warm up that much if there was any sort of cloud cover, but thats how these things work. This is my first solar shower and I didn't find any difficulty using and there nothing like feeling so fresh and clean when you are without indoor plumbing. If you're even on the fence about a solar shower, order one, you won't regret it. Anyone will likely work, but I found this sufficient.

The only thing I can knock it for is having a bit of a kinked hose in its packaging which was ever present and slowed the waterflow a bit.
