5.0 out of 5 stars Nice get-away tent
I've owned this tent for about six years now. It's easy to set up, requiring only about ten minutes from roll out to the final stake, and stands up admirably to wind and rain. This is not a long term or extreme weather tent. It is designed for light use in mild weather.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice warm weather tent-BEWARE of cool weather!
I recently bought this tent for a February trip to Florida. Generally I liked the tent. In the way it is built the tent appears to be rain resistant, but I didn't have opportunity to test it in rain. I would have rated this tent near the 5 star level because of its relative low cost and ease of use except for several problems discussed below.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice get-away tent, July 14, 2008
This review is from: Coleman SunDome Three to Four-Person 9-Foot by 7-Foot Dome Tent (Blue/White) (Sports)
I've owned this tent for about six years now. It's easy to set up, requiring only about ten minutes from roll out to the final stake, and stands up admirably to wind and rain. This is not a long term or extreme weather tent. It is designed for light use in mild weather.

I'd recommend sealing the seams around the bottom of the entryway, as a driving rain causes some minor leakage in that area, and I noticed a very small wear hole near the right front bottom clasp the last time I set it up. A quick seam-seal over the hole fixed the problem.

The first thing I noticed about the tent when I took it out of the box was that the tub of the tent is sturdy, but not heavy-duty. Extend the life of the floor by laying down a tarp underneath the tent before erecting it. I've done this since day one, and the tub still looks new, without a single rip or wear spot.

Overall a very good tent for the money if you're looking for a good, dependable weekender.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice warm weather tent-BEWARE of cool weather!, March 4, 2009
This review is from: Coleman SunDome Three to Four-Person 9-Foot by 7-Foot Dome Tent (Blue/White) (Sports)

First, the entrance door zipper isn't beefy enough. I can see putting small zippers on non high use areas, but come on, the front door? This was a real bad move by Coleman. Charge me two more dollars and give me a real zipper here.

Second, don't plan on being warm in this tent at any temperature below the 60's F. Coleman has placed massive screens on the left and right sides of the tent which cover about 40% of the height of the tent. Why they had to be so big is beyond me. However, if Coleman had given users the ability to zip up a cover over these gaping holes (a cover like on the front door and rear window which are also screened), the large screens would have been OK. But for some unknown reason the idea of covering these massive screens was apparently never thought of by the Coleman design team. Well I guess they never slept in one of these babies below 65 F. If they had, I assure you that the screens would have probably have been much smaller and for sure they would have been designed to be covered by a zippered flap on the inside of the tent.

After all, I wasn't staying in the Arctic, this is central Florida we're talking about here. Based on the fact you can't cover these huge screens, I would not recommend this tent for any camping below 60 F. Because of this design flaw, if night air bothers your respiratory system, you will be getting more night air than you will know what to do with in this tent.

One last small improvement suggestion for the Coleman design team if you're reading -- how about making the tent bag a wee bit bigger? Maybe your seasoned professionals in the controlled environment of the factory can easily fit the tent into the bag provided but we mere mortals have difficulty doing it out in the field.

In conclusion, I really wanted to give this tent a much higher rating because of its ease of use and value but the blatant stupidity of these easily fixable design flaws prohibits me from doing so!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great in strong weather, June 2, 2008
This review is from: Coleman SunDome Three to Four-Person 9-Foot by 7-Foot Dome Tent (Blue/White) (Sports)
I bought this tent after not having been camping for over 15 years. Storms went through our campsite and the campsite flooded and mud everywhere. Thankfully I was able to keep dry in this tent. It handled really well...even on the ground! I was very surprised and really happy about that. This is an inexpensive and easy to set up tent.

I use this tent for short stays (weekends). My 12 and 10 year old have set it up. We have used it in the rain and wind. I was always dry and comfortable for 3 adults plus their bags. You can put 4 people in it. A 6ft young man also found he had enough room. It is well made with good instructions.

3.0 out of 5 stars cheap tent, good for safe camping, June 12, 2007
By
I bought this tent at the discount store for 35$, about what it is worth.
I am an old camper and needed to replace my old car camp tent. Coleman is the bottom of the line, quality wise and I knew this.

Plus side, it is very roomy and comfortable for one person, air bed, two shelties, and chair when it rains. takes about 7-10 causal mins to put up, poles are shock corded.
good bathtub floor. two doors is nice.

minus----

poles are very thin and flimsy, metal ends that hold poles in place are too short.( use clips to hold while you run around and put the thing up)

Impossible to put up in rain and keep tent dry.
Rain fly is too skimpy for the NW, I took along a blue tarp and rope and it rained and the wind blew....needed all that rope and extra stakes.

Not stable in wind, rope stablizers are flimsy.

This would be a great tent for dry, no wind conditions, most likely last a few short years.
I will keep mine , but always, always take tarp and rope for support.

If you camp in adverse conditions, buy a better tent.
a year later, this tent has done alright, with a few stakes, and the extra tarp we have kept dry in a few NW storms, SO IT HAS DONE WELL AND I LIKE IT MUCH BETTER AFTER YEAR OF CAMPING.no buying regrets.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tent!, July 31, 2008
This review is from: Coleman SunDome Three to Four-Person 9-Foot by 7-Foot Dome Tent (Blue/White) (Sports)
I bought this for myself to go camping in the mountains of Idaho. I loved it. Even though I had not put a tent up in over 20 years I found it went up with ease, zippers were snug and it came down just as easily. Thanks Coleman for making a grandmother look good!

Happy with the product & happy with the speed & ease of transaction. When camping in Maine, it rained once - but it was a heavy downpour - and no water came in the tent. I did use the seam sealer, so maybe that helped.

This tent is great! I went out for a weekend with some friends, and we fit four in it - and three were full-grown guys. It rained, and we stayed dry, too. good deal!

I'm not an experienced camper, but my sons and I used this for a recent camp-out. It was really easy to set up and take down, plus it did a good job of keeping out a fairly heavy layer of morning mist and dew. It's not the fanciest thing out there, and probably wouldn't be suitable for extreme conditions, but for a good summer tent that can deal with a little moisture, I don't think you can beat it for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars tent for two not for three or four, June 1, 2009
This review is from: Coleman SunDome Three to Four-Person 9-Foot by 7-Foot Dome Tent (Blue/White) (Sports)
If you like a lot of free space when you sleep then this tent is good for two people only. But for a family of three may work out too, but not for three adults.
