About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark. In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

Overall, this is a nice tent.

PROS:
Expected Coleman quality construction.
The Zippers are nice, smooth, no snags, and water tight.
The tent is light, easy to pack, easy to set up, even in the dark.
The tent has a lot of ventilation to avoid internal condensation.
Fits a queen size air mattress with some room for shoes, gear, and backpacks.
Great price, good value. I'll be using this tent for several years hopefully.

CONS:
This tent leaks at the seam where the floor meets the sides. It rained for 10 hours the second time we used it, 1.5 inches of rain. Everything near the sides of the tent was soaked. I could see the water seeping through the seams.
You must seam seal this tent before using it in the rain. The rain-fly worked fine, and we stayed dry enough to survive the night. I bought some seam sealer and will be sealing this tent for our upcoming camping trip.
It's airy. It was in the low 50's the night it rained and it took some effort to stay warm and dry.
There is no built in way to cover the large mesh vents under the rain fly. The large air vents are good for reducing condensation, but does not hold in much heat. I am thinking about making some Velcro attachable vent covers to hold in some heat and stay a little warmer if needed.

I would recommend this tent for camping where it doesn't get very chilly. Make sure you seam seal it (I think this is recommended for any tent) and bring a warm sleeping bag or extra blankets in case it gets cold.

Update: 2012 Camping Season
No more leaking problems since I seam sealed it with Seam Grip. It has endured several thunderstorms with no problems. The tent is holding up well... I did have to sew up a seam on the stuff sack though.

This tent is good for the price, but 'ware the rain! The moment I got the tent, I sealed all the seams thoroughly, then packed it up for a weekend trip. It rained all weekend, and at first I was quite pleased to be one of two people in the group to have a dry tent. That first night there was some condensation on the tent walls, but nothing to complain about. The second night, however, sure showed me. It didn't outright pour, but it did rain steadily all night, and I woke up during the night to find myself soaked. The seams didn't leak - the water came right through the fabric of the tent. The floor/tub remained waterproof, but the siding needs some significant waterproofing to make it through a rainy night.

Other than the rain problem, this tent performed admirably. The zippers were waterproof, despite having been packed in such a way that the flap over the door's zipper tended to stick straight out. The ventilation was good without being terribly breezy. There's plenty of room in all directions, and it was easy to move around and change inside. Setup and takedown were a breeze, even by myself in the rain! (Just drape the fly over the top to cover the mesh.)

I don't regret buying this tent, but I won't be taking it out for a wet weekend again. Curling up in a soaked sleeping bag was more character-building than I was prepared for!

Over the last few years I have owned quite a few tents. I kept buying cheap ones at big five before my son and I would head out into the Great Basin Desert rockhounding. Though most of them were small, they weren't always the easiest to set up.
This Coleman tent is perfect for the father/son camping trip, because likelihood is the father will be putting the tent up, while the son goes off to find a lizard. The peg rings are made so that you don't have to have someone else holding the pole in place while the other end is being put in place. The poles slide through their sleeves very easily, and the rain fly doesn't need to be tied to the other poles. It rests on top being secured to the four tent peg rings. It does a great job of staying in place during a rain and wind storm too.
An air mattress for two fits nice and snug inside, and leaves just enough floor space that you can store clothing and what not on the side.

I bought this after deciding the Coleman Sundome 4 I had was a bit too big and gave it to a friend. I used this from Thursday to Sunday today in 50-70 degree weather that was beautiful and sunny, so I can't comment on how it handles rain. This was very easy to set-up, it took me about 10 minutes by myself and it doesn't need instructions, though some are included. The tent easily slept me and my girlfriend with at least two feet of room on the right side for storage, maybe more. This definitely sleeps a couple with plenty of room left over.

When the weekend was over the dreaded thought of taking down the tent occurred and thankfully it was easy to get everything back in the bag. I would highly recommend this tent for the casual camping couple.
