4.0 out of 5 stars Decent air mattress
We've got three of these air mattresses for our kids (my wife and I have a queen size for us) when we're car camping and also to make the mattresses in our RV more comfortable.

1.0 out of 5 stars Coleman Twin QuickBed
Buyer beware! I purchased two of these Quickbeds, twin size, to replace one that the valve had torn out. These are more convenient to roll up and store than the prior ones that fold up because of the roll up package so they help break camp quickly. They blow up quickly too, with the proper pump.

One of the two developed a leak along the seams after no more...

We've got three of these air mattresses for our kids (my wife and I have a queen size for us) when we're car camping and also to make the mattresses in our RV more comfortable.

They're not heavy, they inflate quickly and easily (I recommend the 4D inflator) and deflate and store away just as easily. I leave them a little bit "mushy" so that the kids don't feel like they're sleeping on a board. They're far and away more comfortable than the thin little sleeping pads (even the self-inflators) that we use for canoe camping and backpacking.

I did puncture one on the sharp corner of our RV door, but that's the only problem I've ever had with them.

I was initially using a 12v inflator to pump them up, but learned quickly that the smaller 4D inflator is far superior and more convenient.

For the price and the comfort they give you for that price, I recommend them to anyone. You can get better, but it will certainly cost you.

One of the two developed a leak along the seams after no more than about 10 uses which would be typical of a couple of camping seasons for us. It would not hold air for more than about 2 hours near the end of it's life. This is definitely a manufacturing defect. 10 uses puts the age at about two years after purchase.

Coleman customer service would not replace the bed because of the age in spite of their "No Leak" guarantee. So the take away here is: Use it often and long during the first year to make sure it will not develop a leak. After that, Too Bad. If you push them, they might extend the warranty to 18 months. A good mattress should last more than 10 times.

Lived on it for a month while moving and then driving across
country.

This mattress is certainly not as good as the higher end alternatives,
however for the price it isn't bad and is better than the lightweight
backpacking pads that I normally sleep on when camping. Note that it doesn't come with an air pump so you'll need to decide what type
you'll get for it.

For folks thinking about camping in cold weather, realize that it doesn't
insulate very well (nor do most pure air mattresses) so you'll want to think about warmth. For summer/warm weather camping or as an extra mattress for kids, it is fine. Do be careful about not placing it on/near
something which will puncture it. I never had a leak, but I've been very
careful with both it and my backpacking pads.

1.0 out of 5 stars Low quality junk, November 10, 2009
This review is from: Quickbed Twin Airbed (Sports)
These mattresses may be great for a week long camping trip but they don't last longer than a week or two. We bought one for my step daughter when she visited us and the first one sprung a leak after 3 nights. Than we replaced it with another one which lasted about two weeks.

Not worth the hassle and don't even bother trying to patch one of these things if it starts leaking.

1.0 out of 5 stars cheap quality, December 5, 2008
This review is from: Quickbed Twin Airbed (Sports)
I had a twin size colman mattress prior to this one that was amazing...took it to India twice, Cambodia, Thailand, and Laos, chucked it around inside my luggage and finally after 3 1/2 years of solid use it started to leak (slow leak).

So naturally I didn't hesitate to buy another. Right away I noticed a difference. I blew this mattress up. It is an inch lower than the other--potential not an issue and I was willing to fogive that since the weight of my former matress was the only downfall. But the rubber was of cheaper quality--it wasn't as malluable. It was clearly more stiff around the air-pockets...still I was willing to work with it since I LOVED my last one. I took it to a friends house and used it on top of the bed they offered and after one night it seemed as though the air had let out some. The next time I took it to another friends--again on top of the friendly surface of a hard bed, again the air was not staying in it! The other mattress I had I could sleep on it for weeks without needing to put air in it.

The other thing I noticed with both mattresses is that they are not good conduits of heat--they really suck up the cold air or ground. I always have a liner between me and the mattress so I don't freeze if I am any place where the temperature drops below 68 degrees.

Coleman does offer replacements (cut out the valve, receipt and coleman name on side of mattress) but if the replacement is exactly the same, I would take it back to the store if that is an option and find another Coleman twin that is at least 6 inches thick. This one here is 5 inches--seam to seam. Very dissapointed. Given the fact you can get a MUCH better twin coleman mattress for maybe $15 more that will last a long time, this one is NOT worth your money. I only wish I could find the leak in my old one so I could patch it up and use it for another 3 years rather than the 3 WEEKS this one last me.

This bed is great! It sets up easy and is very sturdy. It is thick vinyl. You also don't need to refill it every day if your using it multiple nights. storage is compact as well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Zero stars if possible. Piece o crap!, February 20, 2010

Coleman used to make decent mattresses. The first one I bought lasted me about three years of fairly frequent use. However, in the last couple of years I've had no less than 8 of these mattresses go bad in less than a month. One of those lasted exactly 3 days. The only reason I keep getting them is due to the generous return policy of certain merchants, and the personal satisfaction I get from making a company such as Coleman take a loss on the returns for a poor quality product that shouldn't be on the market in the first place..

I've determined that the problem is poor quality of the seal around the inflation area. Do doubt that they cut down on the amount of sealant applied to save a few cents per unit. You can fix it with a whole lot of duct tape, but that means you have to pull off the duct tape to reinflate the mattress 1-2 times a weeks, and plaster over the hole with a lot duct tape again. You shouldn't have to do this.

Note to Coleman: have your Chinese factories use about 2 cents more of epoxy per unit around the inflator area, and you'll cut way, way down on your returns, and probably cut down the loss on customers due to dissatisfied buyers switching to other brands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good value, November 23, 2009

I normally equate Coleman brand with junk. So I'm happily surprised that my 2 "cheap" beds have been doing a great job for about 3 years. They're comfortable and they don't leak. I kept one inflated as a guest bed for about a month, and it only needed re-inflating once a week! I've slept on plenty of expensive Aerobeds that needed re-inflating in the middle of the night.

I keep my 2 beds in a bag in my trunk, along with a rechargeable pump, sheets, blanks, and small pillows. We can bust out our beds in about 10 minutes and sleep comfortably anywhere!

We usually use them indoors, but we've also gone "camping" 4 times without any issues.

As an extra bonus, one mattress fits perfectly in the back of my Toyota Prius! I've slept in my car about 10 times.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good air mattress, August 7, 2010
This review is from: Quickbed Twin Airbed (Sports)
I got this mattress because of very competitive price and first favorable impressions. I've owned several air mattresses in the past, so I am fairly familiar with their strengths and limitations. Overall I am very satisfied with this mattress and would recommend it as a spare bad or a camping mattress. It inflated very quickly - I was using a very small electric pump, but my impression was that even with a hand pump the mattress would not take too long to inflate. After the mattress settled in into its fully-inflated shape it was able to retain most of the air for almost a week with a guest sleeping on top of it. The outward surface of the mattress seems very durable and not easily scratched or pierced. I was a bit concerned with its thickness, but it turned out not to be an issue - you don't feel the ground at all while laying on top of it. The "Wrap 'N' Roll" storage is a very clever idea and very useful and practical way of storing this mattress. Since it is permanently attached there is no danger of it getting lost or misplaced, and rolling the mattress into it is a very easy way of getting it into a compact storage. This is a very good product and would recommend it, especially if price is an issue.
