This toothpaste is my all time favorite so far. I don't know about the 12 hour protection, but I do know that when I use it, it does leave my mouth tingling (maybe mildly numb) but feeling really clean. My teeth are a bit sensitive so the straight up paste is a bit uncomfortable for me but the stripe doesn't bother me at all. Overall, this has been the best toothpaste I have found for feeling really clean while not making brushing painful or uncomfortable.
