Dentist Says "Whitening" Toothpastes are A Gimmick, August 3, 2005
This review is from: Colgate 2 in 1 Toothpaste & Mouthwash, Whitening Icy Blast - 4.6 oz (Health and Beauty)
I am a dentist that recommends Colgate-brand toothpastes to my patients. However, I always caution my patients that the term "Whitening" is a very generic term and is NOT related to tooth bleaching, which some associate with the term "Whitening". If you want to get your teeth really whiter, then I recommend a product like Crest White Strips. This has a true bleaching agent that will "whiten" your teeth much better that any "Whitening" toothpaste.
I like Colegate products for the fluoride and the low abrasivity, but I truly believe that the "Whitening" claim is a gimmick. Good product, but I don't like the possibly misleading advertising.
I like the intense taste of this toothpaste. Not everyone will like the strong taste, but it makes my mouth feel fresher longer.

Great toothpaste!, October 11, 2004
This review is from: Colgate 2 in 1 Toothpaste & Mouthwash, Whitening Icy Blast - 4.6 oz (Health and Beauty)
This stuff is great - it really does a great job of cleaning your teeth and it tastes great. But, a word of warning, only use the pea-sized amount they indicated because it will burn your mouth! The peppermint is so intense that it almost stings. But it doesn't deter me from ever buying it again. It's just a great product and one of our favorites. If you're sluggish in the mornings, go ahead and squirt on a full brushload. You'll be awake in a hurry!
