Works, but...,

I bought these to throw in my desk drawer for that middle of the afternoon "uh oh, I taste the onions from lunch and have a meeting" moments.
They work OK at a quick clean up, but are difficult for me to use. One end is pointed- which I suppose to work as a tooth pick or something, but ends up hurting my hand when I try to brush. The bristles are sparse and weak- they do some work, but I never get the feeling my teeth are actually clean. The little glob of toothpaste goo is a mystery. I keep trying to get it to dissolve all at once, but it won't. Instead it slowly and patiently turns to toothpaste while I work. Frankly, this produce is disposable- and because of that requires less cleanup or storage than a toothbrush and toothpaste. Given the choice between the two, a traditional brush wins every time. Perhaps in an emergency I could get by with this.

I don't know if it is the ingredients in the "freshening bead" or the brushing action, but somehow, this little device does leave the mouth feeling much fresher than eating a mint can. It is little weird to use, the brush bristles aren't as fine as a toothbrush and you have to manipulate the brush around a bit to get the little bead to burst, but it a very refreshing sensation. It leaves your mouth with a long lasting freshness when you can't use a real toothbrush. I like it better than mints because they seem to leave my mouth feeling unpleasant again once they are gone and I'm not super-fond of chewing gum. Not a substitute for proper daily toothbrushing practices.

I can hardly believe I love this very expensive little unnecessary item, but I do. I buy them for my 7-year-old son to use in the mornings before school. He has PDD, which manifests itself in the mornings in the way he really drags his feet, and also doesn't like to brush in the first place. For 2 years now I've had trouble having enough time for him to brush without missing the school bus. I tried taking his brush and a cup of water downstairs with us but tended to leave it on the steps of our apartment building -- yuck for everyone! This way, when he's done I can pop it in my pocket or put it down anywhere and then throw it out. Plus, he loves the strong flavor.
