Book Description

This is not your typical rock star romance. For one, the “rock star” is a rapper. And not just any rapper. Trace is the hottest ticket in the music industry right now, regardless of which definition of ‘hot’ you choose.

Taryn Starr is not the girl-next-door who unknowingly meets a celebrity. Known as “America’s Sweetheart,” the reigning country music princess and world-renowned superstar knows exactly who Trace is…or does she?

Their worlds collide when the musicians whose paths were never destined to cross are forced by their joint record label to collaborate on a song. The sparks fly and ignite a fire that blazes hotter with every minute they spend together—for better or worse. One thing’s for certain, the two media magnets can’t deny their explosive chemistry, but will life in the spotlight ultimately bring Trace and Taryn together or force them apart?

***This contemporary romance new adult novel is for mature audiences. The language alone would make a sailor blush (the guy’s a rapper, remember?) so 18+ only, please.

5.0 out of 5 stars Original from the first page! January 30, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Where do I start? This book was so completely not what I expected. This book was so much better than I could have imagined!!!
If you are thinking this is going to be you typical famous person/rock star book
I was pleasntly surprised when it wasn't.

First of all you have Taryn (Taralyn) Starr, she is a sweet, innocent girl from Texas. She is "America's Sweet Heart", an image her mom/manger pushes down everyone's throats (she makes you think of Kris Jenner...yuck). Taryn just wants to be herself. An normal girl from Texas who loves to make music.

Then there is Trace. Yep, he goes by one name. He is a hot rap star. Winning Grammy awards, getting all sorts of trouble, partying, women.. you name it.
Trace portrays himself as a tough guy, needing no one. He has his group of friends he considers family.

So when the record company think Trace needs his image cleaned up/worked on a little, they want him to do a collaboration with America's Sweetheart!! There is nothing better than getting some good free publicity. Two of the biggest names in music working together for a new song! Their collaboration is going to be a huge success. Everyone can see that! Although that does not mean that Trace and Taryn are happy about it.

When the 2 of them are made to work together, not only do they make beautiful music, they also start to see the other for more than their public persona. Trace and Taryn get to know and see the real person the other can be. Sparks fly. Their relationship develops. They start off as friends. There are texting and calls.

Things get steamy when Trace and Taryn make their music video together. All their built up feeling and emotions are set loose. It get hot and steamy real quick.

3.0 out of 5 stars My expectations were too high - 2.5 February 6, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was slightly disappointed with this book. I liked Trace and Taryn, but though there was plenty of drama not much of it had any actual purpose and everything was either resolved far too quickly or dismissed. The Epilogue was sweet, but this book just didn't do it for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the true reader! January 25, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is a must read! I did not want it to end. I personally fell in love with Taryn (country star) and Trace (rapper) the two main characters. Who are portrayed in everyone's eyes as being so different but yet when they come together for Collaboration and get to know one another are they really? Many twists and turns in their very hectic lifestyle keeps you wanting to turn the page! I routed for this book, this Collaboration, this relationship! Could not wait to read and see what happens out of the Collaboration!! The writing is very well done as Michelle Lynn and Nevaeh Lee have to develop two very different characters and lifestyles in the world of country and rap. This is one of the Best yet to come from Michelle Lynn! Highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Collaboration January 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
What a sweet sweet story. I really enjoyed it and appreciated that it was different than any other NA book right now. The steamy scenes were done just right and the writing and storyline flowed at a nice smooth pace. If your looking for something a little sweeter with a fun and flirty story read this it's so worth it.

I took a chance on this purchase and I liked this story. It's nice to read about an interracial couple for once. I did feel the book was a little too short and at times felt more like vignettes than a story, but the story was definitely strong. It's more of a 3.5 star read.
At times, I found myself wishing the story had more conflict. Every time there was a problem, it seemed to be solved so very easily. I felt the secondary characters weren't used to their full potential. Ryder could have created A LOT more conflict, and I half-expected Taryn's mom to, since she was portrayed as over-the-top awful. And what the hell happened to Gina? She was almost like an afterthought most of the time. It made Taryn seem like a total loner, which was a little weird. A 21 year old country star with NO friends? Not likely.

I didn't feel Trace's past lived up to the hype. I was expecting something much worse--like maybe he was a politician's son or uber rich or something. But it was just tragic and I don't see how that would ruin his career. There are plenty of preacher's children in the entertainment industry. I understand him wanting to keep his past private, but I kept getting the impression that if anyone found out it would blow things up. Then everyone did and it was like crickets chirping.

I enjoyed the story of Taryn's secret, but I really felt it was downplayed and wrapped up too neatly, then pulled out of a hat again for dramatic effect. And I'm sorry, but the whole Baby Daddy thing was so cliche I almost didn't finish the story. Only I had to because the writing is pretty good. And then even that was wrapped up too quickly...and a little bit awkwardly....
