Unfortionately we lost one of the greatest, and certianly the nicest, west coast bop piano players this year. Just last year my wife and I took our friends up to Spazio in Sherman Oaks to hear him and his trio(the same one featured here, minus Lundgren). Jolly was always great, and cool as can be stylisticly. This cd features Jolly sharing the piano spotlight(twin pianos), with Jan Lundgren(don't worry it's nothing like Ferrante & Teicher). This is pure bop swingin' heaven! Jolly's regular "night club" trio, augmented by pianist Londgren. The two play superbly and creatively together, and the quartet blends mervelously. This set is Jolly's last recording, and prooves tah the went out on top.
