4.0 out of 5 stars A Well-Produced Recording..., August 16, 2002
Just after mainstream rapper Eminem released another album full of expletives and insults, KJ-52 has returned to deliver a new album full of phat beats and lyrics that inspire holy living. Collaborations features KJ rapping with a slew of hip-hoppers, and a handful of rockers. Those who aren't familiar with the music of KJ-52 will quickly realize that his voice and style resemble the multi-platinum Eminem, but the comparisons to Marshall Mathers end there. Probably the most gripping song on the album is "Dear Slim," a song that loosely parallels Eminem's "Stan," where the rapper is writing a letter to the superstar. KJ speaks to Eminem as a hip-hop peer, and sends a message to Slim Shady that he's praying for him, because "a life without Christ is a life that is never fixed." The whole album is full of intelligent, God-inspired lyrics. The song "Wait for You" talks about waiting until marriage for sex. He addresses women everywhere about men who are just looking for sex: "A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, but what a man oughta do is respect you." KJ keeps it real by not being shy about the issues he's addressing. He plainly says, "It ain't a dirty word to be a virgin." Lyrics with such rich Biblical truth have historically sounded hokey and corny, but KJ-52 uses his amazing hip-hop talents to relay his messages while still getting listeners to bob their heads. I'm not a huge hip-hop fan, but KJ-52 has completely drawn me in to his music with his words. I completely recommend "Collaborations" by KJ-52. The album is well-produced, not corny at all and totally radio friendly. Christian hip-hop continues to grow, and with albums like this one, it won't be long before the secular world takes notice. This has got to be the best Christian hip-hop album out so far this year. I give this album an A ...

5.0 out of 5 stars A great Eminem , Nelly,or 50 Cent alternative, March 30, 2003
A Kid's Review
Talk about a great CD!!This is the best christian rap CD in a very long time. While maintainig his own style,KJ also sounds almosy exactly like Eminem(without all the profanity). The best
song on here is"Do that".Dear Slim is the driving force behind this entire CD,in which, instead of trashing Eminem or critiscizing him,was written to show him that God can even love him. When I heard"Coke Fry Cheese Burger" I almost died laughing!
A great CD all the way to track 16.
