Not much individuality,
By A Customer
This review is from: 30 Collaborative Books for Your Class To Make and Share! (Grades K-2) (Paperback)
Students are given a cute picture with all the words already written and a blank space for the student to write one or two words. While this book may be great for kindergarten or even preschool, I have found it is not challenging enough for first graders.

Great Ideas,

This book gives a teacher many great ideas to use in writing books with children. Many of the patterns are very easy to reproduce and are helpful.

I have used this book many times! It offers great pictures and templates. The children love to have teachers read their work and connect it with the theme you may be working on....I give it an A+ Laura Black

This review is from: 30 Collaborative Books for Your Class To Make and Share! (Grades K-2) (Paperback)
This cute book has 15 titles for collaborative books, and every title has two options for completing the book. Each page has a poem at the top, and one option is usually simpler than the other. For example:
Pumpkin theme book Option 1: "I picked an orange pumpkin right off of the vine. It's as big as a _______, and it's mine, all mine!" Pumpkin theme book Option 2: "I cut out a paper pumpkin, then added on a face. I used ___circles, ___triangles, and ___squares. In all, I used ___shapes!". Instructions are given for decorating the front and back covers. Other instructions for each book are a pre-writing warm up, introducing the selection, writing together, best book connection, and a follow up activity. Some of the titles I would have thought of myself, such as pumpkin and school bus. Others are more unusual, including "sparkle castle" and "tick tock clock". I teach preschool, and will adapt these ideas for my class. It would be ideal for grades 1-2. |
