You are a woman in men's dominated world; you are a minority in an unfamiliar cultural; you are several years into your career and ready to take on more responsibility. You think you are ready and you can do it as you are smart, you work hard, you had been a straight As students in school and great track record on any project you had involved. But suddenly, you found out just getting the outstanding result no longer enough for promotion or getting included in upper management circle. You hate organization politics, but seem like you can't avoid it ... Yes, you hit the glass ceiling!
If this sounds like you, Kathryn's : Collaborative Competition may change your life. This book provides structured way for you to become "political savvy". The unique approach by Kathryn Mayer directs you to understand yourself first, understand your needs and stress sign, then building the comfort zone by developing your own unique network. This book helps you to "play your best game" and give you the best chance to win.
It is very insightful for me; it may also be for you.

I love the four categories of mindsets she has come up with - Noncompetitive Individual Contributor, Situational Collaborative Competitor, Collaborative Competitor, and Perfectionist Competitor. The perfectionist competitor is linked to micro management and is an example of unhealthy competition. When you are getting the benefits of healthy competition, i.e. being self challenging, and combine it with collaboration the results are win win. [...]
