Book Description

May 9, 2003

The first book to document this cutting-edge technique that's been adapted by companies like Wal-Mart, Pillsbury, and Procter and Gamble, Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment collects case studies and contributions by the foremost experts in the field to give readers an insightful introduction to this revolutionary new supply chain method. The CPFR technique involves supply chain members sharing information in real time over the Internet, enhancing the collaborative dialogue between retailers and vendors. 4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting tidbits, January 4, 2005
This review is from: Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment: How to Create a Supply Chain Advantage (Hardcover)
This book explores the topic of CPFR and I found the read enlightening. Many specific examples makes the read quite entertaining.

Only issue is that the book is written by a long list of authors so some of the topics are re-discussed several places in the book.

This review is from: Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment: How to Create a Supply Chain Advantage (Hardcover)
The book is a reasonable well written summary of the CPFR concept and it's evolvement from past processes and strategies. However, what I missed was a more detailed look into calculations and detailed process descriptions. In the end the book is rather an "advertisement" for CPFR, with lots of commentators and citations. If this topic is a complete new concept, the book makes for a decent introduction, for the practicioner it is a little "dry" without the looked-for details.
