A Definate Buy For Percussion Lovers,
By Tim Middlebrook (Poughkeepsie, New York USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Collage (Audio CD)
I first purchased this CD reluctaltly, doubting it would be good, but talking a reccommendation from a friend, bought it anyway. It turns out that this CD is now my favorite of all time. The bands setup, or rather ensamble, is very strange indeed, all percussion instruments, thats right, no guitar or bass or anuything else to that sort. All instruments ranging from the normal drumset, all the way to a musical saw, are included on this album, creating a very rythmic, but almost relaxed feel to the songs. All the muscians are extraordinary players, notables including the vibrphone player, and the drumset player, who is also the leader of this group. Unlike other rythmic albums, this one is very relaxed, even sometimes feeling like the group is going to fall apart, but that seems to be the effect they are going for , and this leaves you with an astonished feeling just at how good these playes are. All in all anyone who likes jazz, percussion, or just a fun CD to listen to should purchase this album.
