3.5 stars - another solid Ted Poley release,
By
This review is from: Collateral Damage (Audio CD)
2006's Collateral Damage is the first proper solo album from melodic rock vocalist Ted Poley. After a series of albums with Bone Machine, Melodica, Poley-Pichler and of course Danger Danger, Poley served up a solo album that sounds...just like all of those previous bands.
Collateral Damage is actually a really solid, well put-together melodic rock album. It's pretty much all love songs, and none of the party rock that Danger Danger did so well, but it's still a good album and there are a couple of rockin' songs here and there. Poley's voice is smooth and sounds as good as it did 20 years ago. The only real downside is that it sounds exactly like every other album Poley has released post-Danger Danger. It seems like he's just spinning his wheels. This one is a no-brainer for Ted Poley and Danger Danger fans, and should appeal to fans of old school AOR and melodic rock in general.

I have always liked Ted Poley in front of Danger Danger with the rock tunes with great vocals. In Collateral Damage, Ted Poley's pairing with Vic Rivera really has turned out some tasty melodic rock songs. This release is a bit more rock-oriented than Smile but similar to Danger Danger's last release. If you like any of D2's stuff - pick this one up. You'll enjoy it.
