From Library Journal
British novelist and playwright Duffy is the author of more than 21 books, and is known mainly for her plays and fiction. This collection, which encompasses 25 years of work, is an interesting and ample introduction to her poetry. Duffy's verse may sound formal and her language stylized to readers more accustomed to an American idiom and free verse, but her concerns are purely contemporary and timely. Her themes range from wry political comment to tender, uninhibited eroticism, and she often succeeds in presenting literary allusions in a fresh, new light. (One problem with the book's layout: more than one poem on a page makes for confusion when the poems are untitled, as they often are.) Grace Bauer, formerly with New Orleans Public Lib.
