A VERY RARE VOICE,
By Jerry David Madden "david madden author of Ab... (Black Mountain, North Carolina) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Collected Stories, 1948-1986 (Nonpareil Book ; 54) (Paperback)
The most neglected fine writer in America is Wright Morris. These stories are a very good introduction to Morris's many novels, also neglected. Part of the reason he is not taught in universities is that his works do not readily lend themselves to the various facets of literary theory, which is the prevalent focus in many classrooms. For those who long to flee theory-ridden reading lists, Morris is for you. Tell me I am wrong, if I am so.
