Product Description

---- NOTE: This edition has a linked "Table of Contents" and has been beautifully formatted (searchable and interlinked) to work on your Amazon e-book reade or your iPod e-book reader. -----

From the mind of pulp great, H.P. Lovecraft.

Lovecraft's major inspiration and invention was cosmic horror: the idea that life is incomprehensible to human minds and that the universe is fundamentally alien.

He's developed a cult following for his Cthulhu Mythos, a series of loosely interconnected fictions featuring a pantheon of human-nullifying entities, as well as the Necronomicon, a fictional grimoire of magical rites and forbidden lore.

His works were deeply pessimistic and cynical, challenging the values of Enlightenment, Romanticism, and Christian humanism.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is For Real!, February 25, 2009
This review is from: The Collected Stories of H. P. Lovecraft: Volume One (48 Classic Horror Books in One Volume!) (Kindle Edition)
At first I couldn't believe my eyes... but for 80 cents per volume, I just had to download these and now it is my LUCK I can't believe! I was prepared to come to terms with the fact that I had wasted my money, since it was such a small fee, and I expected a disorganized dissaray of the man's works, at best. But these four volumes are the real deal! For $3.20, I now own every piece of available* Lovecraft fiction, well organized in chronological order and with a fully linked table of contents. And indeed the formatting of these volumes is BEAUTIFUL! For the tiny amount of money you would be spending, I think it would be well worth your while to see for yourself what I mean.

*There are some Lovecraft stories which may be lost to us forever, being tied up in copyright disputes over his literary estates. This small handful of stories have their titles listed in a smaller font in the table of contents of the first volume, with an asteric beside each one to indicate the unavailability, but as I say, this comprises a small handful of titles, and all of his available works of fiction, even the famous ones, can be found within these four volumes.

If you are a Kindle owner and have even remotely toyed with the idea of exploring Lovecraft, THESE FOUR ARE A MUST-BUY!!!!!!!

This review is from: The Collected Stories of H. P. Lovecraft: Volume One (48 Classic Horror Books in One Volume!) (Kindle Edition)
Very happy with this purchase. If I compared this to chocolate, this would be like getting a huge sampler box of gourmet candies that I didn't have to share with anyone (which never happens *sob*). It is a rare treat to find all of these classic works in portable format so beautifully presented at this price.

Men of broader intellect know that there is no sharp distinction betwixt the real and the unreal; that all things appear as they do only by virtue of the delicate individual physical and mental media through which we are made conscious of them; but the prosaic materialism of the majority condemns as madness the flashes of supersight which penetrate the common veil of obvious empricism. "e;
