Sloppy Publishing Practices,

It is always a pleasure to read Clurman. However, anyone purchasing this compendium for research purposes should be aware of its haphazard production. Index references have frequently landed on pages other than those cited; sometimes they do not seem to exist at all. There have been hours of frustrated searching. It would seem that the Index was compiled according to an early proof of the book. Perhaps revisions impacted on the pagination and the index was never adjusted. Whatever the reason, it is a regrettable - and expensive - nuisance, not an aid, to research.
