5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding deal
I couldn't believe it when I bought 36 works by Jules Verne for a few dollars for my iPod. I thought I'd be lucky if I got some poorly scanned and OCRed stuff but this is top quality! I'm maybe half way through the first book (20,000 leagues...) and there are no OCR errors.

Then I found out I can read these books on my PC too and it auto-syncs with my iPod. I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Table of Contents?
Downloaded it like magic for my Mac. But looks like I'm going to have to read every page. No "Active table of contents" that I can find....

Would be nice.

Simply fantastic if you like classic science-ficton as I do.

P.S. I recommend having Google Earth running as you read 20,000 leagues under the sea - it's really cool to type the coordinates in and see where the author is taking you. You enter coordinates in the form dd mm'ss" N/S, dd mm'ss" E/W. Remember that Jules Verne is using a Paris meridian which is 2 degrees 21' East of Greenwich.

5.0 out of 5 stars An incredible read for all ages, September 10, 2010
This review is from: The Collected Works of Jules Verne: 36 Novels and Short Stories (Unexpurgated Edition) (Halcyon Classics) (Kindle Edition)
I have known about the author, Jules Verne, and read his books since I was about 10 years old. Due to life's uncertainties, I lost the small collection I had. Now, nearly 30 years later, with my Kindle in hand, I did not hesitate to buy this collection of 36 books (although his collected works have more than 70) and for the price it had. I really recommend it, go for it!

For me, Jules Verne, is one of the greatest authors of all time. His stories are timeless, they are as fresh today as they were the day they were written. They can be catalogued as science fiction, adventure or plain fiction, it doesn't matter, the stories can be read by anyone, of any age, with interest.

If you want to find stories for your children which are both interesting and educational, this is one of the authors to choose. If, on the other hand, you want a story for yourself, which is imaginative, fast tracking, this is also an author for you.

I hope that they will complete the collection!

Note: this collection does have a "Table of Contents", you just have to access it through the cover page.

The contents page is on the cover. You won't have to vainly search for the start of each book. With that out of the way, why havn't you bought this one yet?

This is the most complete collection of Jules Vern I have ever seen. And yes there is a Table of contents. It is on the cover page. Just cursor down to the book you want to read and click it. Just that simple. No errors, this is not a cheap OCR rip. You absolutely cannot beat it for the price. I am using a Kindle 3.

Most of us know about 80 days around the world , and Journey to the center of the earth from the movies. However Jules wrote many other stories. All amazing for his day. Most interesting and many are a real geography lesson as well as nature. It is a good collection to have and read when you are in a reflective mood about what to read next. Sometime the vision you get in your imagination are better than the movies.

$2.99 for all of Jules Verne's work? Are you kidding? I won't have to buy another book for 6 months! This rocks.

Also, Verne was a pretty solid writer. I expected his prose to be a little stuffy, but it wasn't at all. I'm still on 20,000 Leagues right now and I didn't expect it to be the page turner it turned out to be. So don't discount Verne because he's an old-timer. Rediscover this master of the thriller - one of the godfathers of the steampunk genre - and with him a world and a spirit you will find both refreshing and exciting.

At only a few dollars you get a huge volume of content from the celebrated author, but there is no navigable table of contents to facilitate jumping to a certain title or chapter, or even a space where on book leaves off and the next one starts.

Don't waste your time or money on this one. It is one huge text file, not indexed or searchable for titles.
