A Great Collection,
By Linda "In Stitches 24/7" (Alamo, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Collected Works of Scott Joplin - (Volume 1) Works for Piano (Paperback)
I have several other Joplin books and this particular one is very comprehensive. I don't think this is being published any longer so you may need to buy a used copy. I bought one used and had the old, dried up glued binding replaced with spiral binding. Now it's just as good as new and it's for sure my favorite. What's also nice is you get to see what the original covers look like to the songs. If you enjoy Scott Joplin music, you need this book!

A Phenomenal Collection,
This review is from: The Collected Works of Scott Joplin - (Volume 1) Works for Piano (Paperback)
I've owned this collection for almost twenty years and have totally enjoyed it. The collection contains some forty+ original compositions by Scott Joplin (five marches, five waltzes and thirty-six rags), seven collaborative works, and Joplin's school of ragtime. The most famous rags are included: "The Entertainer," "Easy Winners," The Cascades," and the 'Maple Leaf," as well as some unusual ones, like the "Stoptime Rag," which requires the player to stomp his foot. Also included are the facsimiles of the original covers and an extensive 33-page biography on the composer and his works. The music easy to read and I've had no issues with the binding, as described by others. If you enjoy playing ragtime, this collection is a must.
