Book Description

November 1, 2002
From a Ronald Reagan birthday bash, Elizabeth Taylor's afternoon tea, George Washington's Christmas brunch or the last meal of serial killer Ted Bundy, this book has a story to suit your celebration. Every type of meal -- from the most elaborate of dinners to a simple bowl of chili -- can be found. Recreating an actual meal is a fun, accessible way to share a moment in history. It is inexpensive, authentic, verifiable and available to everyone. This is a book of menus, not recipes; Collectible Meals emphasizes the circumstances instead of the ingredients in this exciting new collection of meals from CollectibleMeals.com. This book is the first of a series. A sequel was published in 2003 with more fascinating menus and the stories behind them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, January 29, 2011
This review is from: Collectible Meals: Real Menus From History And Hollywood (Paperback)
This is a fascinating collection of menus from a diverse range of celebrities, athletes and politicians. If you're looking for the Britney Spears and Paris Hiltons of our day, this book series (this is the second of two) probably isn't for you. However if you want to know what Marilyn Monroe ate at her first playboy spread, etc. then this is a fascinating read. Each of the menus are preceded by a short history lesson about the celebrity and menu itself. It would be really fun to host dinner parties using these menus. Definitely recommend, you won't be disappointed!

This review is from: Collectible Meals: Real Menus From History And Hollywood (Paperback)
This book is absurd. I expected a well researched book of historic andmemorable meals. Forget it. Most of the meals mentioned are celebraties from the 50's and 60's who favored steak and salad or peanutbutter sandwiches and milk. I have a restaurant and bought this book for my chef as a gift. I was so lame I never gave it to him. Skip this.
