Book Description

August 15, 2005
The mere mention of the word “teatime” conjures an array of civilized pleasures. Now celebrating its eleventh strong year, The Collectible Teapot & Tea Calendar is a year of lovely interludes filled with charm and ritual, and features cherished teapots in evocative tea-time settings. A rosebedecked Nippon tea set circa 1891. A rare WWII “Freedom and Democracy” teapot. An art deco Royal Doulton pot abloom with hydrangeas. The teapots, culled from private collections, museums, and tea company archives, have been photographed by Martin Brigdale. Accompanying each is informative text by collector and connoisseur Joni Miller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why even review a calendar?, November 1, 2006

Seriously, it does seem weird to be so enthusiastic about a calendar that I wish to write a review, but there's something about the "Collectible Teapot and Tea Calendars" series that is so enchanting that I had to encourage interested parties to go ahead and make this purchase. The teapot tableaux that make up the photographs for every month are so charming that you are certain to find each one a bit of old-fashioned, gracious civility that will give your mind a sense of restoration and repose even in the midst of a hectic day. Every month contains side-bar information on the customs and history of the teatime ritual. There are even pithy tea quotes for each month. What a fascinating and beautiful way to track the days!

I've bought these calendars for the past five years. They are, by far, my favorite calendar series that I have come across. Kudos to Joni Miller and Martin Brigdale!

I am an avid teapot collector. I purchase this calendar every year and I am never disappointed. Each year the photos get better and better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Collectible Teapot Calendar 2007, January 5, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got hooked on this calendar several years ago, and every Christmas I get one for myself and several for certain friends who now expect this each year. The photography is outstanding, and the historical perspective offered on each month is very informative. Something new that was contained in the 2007 calendar is postcards of each of the teapots of the 12 months. These are not just photos of teapots, but are beautiful table settings of foods, flowers, linens, and keepsakes of the era when the particular teapot was produced. The photos conjure up a time when people gathered to talk and eat delectable finger foods and relax in a way that perhaps we do not enjoy today. From that aspect the calendar has a very nurturing quality. The antique teapots are quite amazing and beautiful.
