Book Description

June 1, 2006
A cherished teapot is one of life’s most pleasing acquisitions, whether inherited from another tea lover or bought for one’s self. As time goes by and the table is once again set for tea, each pot’s distinctive shape and decoration continue to captivate and delight. And so it is with a decade of The Collectible Teapot & Tea Calendar. The year 2007 highlights a dozen memorable tea settings and features our favorite teapots from the calendar’s past. A sparkling “bright-cut” silver Mappin & Webb pot from the first calendar in 1996. An elegantly refined Staffordshire pot adorned with a dainty pink luster design. And an iconic Hall China “Donut” teapot in vivid Chinese red. Collector and connoisseur Joni Miller’s text serves up fascinating history and lore. With photographs by Martin Brigdale.

5.0 out of 5 stars Why even review a calendar?, November 1, 2006

Seriously, it does seem weird to be so enthusiastic about a calendar that I wish to write a review, but there's something about the "Collectible Teapot and Tea Calendars" series that is so enchanting that I had to encourage interested parties to go ahead and make this purchase. The teapot tableaux that make up the photographs for every month are so charming that you are certain to find each one a bit of old-fashioned, gracious civility that will give your mind a sense of restoration and repose even in the midst of a hectic day. Every month contains side-bar information on the customs and history of the teatime ritual. There are even pithy tea quotes for each month. What a fascinating and beautiful way to track the days!

I've bought these calendars for the past five years. They are, by far, my favorite calendar series that I have come across. Kudos to Joni Miller and Martin Brigdale!

5.0 out of 5 stars Collectible Teapot Calendar 2007, January 5, 2007

This review is from: The Collectible Teapot & Tea Calendar 2007 (Calendar)
I got hooked on this calendar several years ago, and every Christmas I get one for myself and several for certain friends who now expect this each year. The photography is outstanding, and the historical perspective offered on each month is very informative. Something new that was contained in the 2007 calendar is postcards of each of the teapots of the 12 months. These are not just photos of teapots, but are beautiful table settings of foods, flowers, linens, and keepsakes of the era when the particular teapot was produced. The photos conjure up a time when people gathered to talk and eat delectable finger foods and relax in a way that perhaps we do not enjoy today. From that aspect the calendar has a very nurturing quality. The antique teapots are quite amazing and beautiful.
