Editorial Reviews

Book Description

Sit down for afternoon tea, that convivial daily interlude filled with gossip and camaraderie, soothing ritual, and cakes. Presiding over every tea table, of course, is the teapot, setting the mood with whimsy or majesty, elegant understatement or floral exuberance. The Collectible Teapot & Tea Calendar features a year of rare and beautiful teapots photographed in lovely teatime settings. A romantic pink 1893 Royal Worcester is perfect for a heartfelt rendezvous for two. Emily Post's own favorite 1910 Calyx Ware set welcomes friends to a very proper tea. Accompanying each month's setting are morsels of history and lore from food writer Joni Miller. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Back Cover

Ritual, refreshment, a way of life, teatime is an interlude that invigorates the spirit. For 2008, The Collectible Teapot & Tea Calendar presents a year of beautiful vintage teapots arranged in lovely teatime settings. A romantic gilded Miles Mason teapt from 1805 will set hearts aflutter on Valentine's Day. A 1780 Worcester pot, decorated with Chinese and Japanese motifs, is the perfect choice for a supremely civilized tea. And it doesn't get any more playful than a 1950s Carlton Ware squirrel teapot. Accompanying Martin Brigdale's photographs is delectable history and lore from teapot collector and writer Joni Miller. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tea Calendar, September 28, 2008
The Teapot and Tea Calendar for 2009 by Joni Miller with photographs by Martin Brigdale is beautifully done. Each month is graced with a photograph of a table setting of a teapot and savories that is delightful to the eye. In addition there are individual postcards for each month that I enjoy sending to friends throughout the year.

Each picture each month is described in detail to the origin and date of each of the teapots and a caption of information on the art of tea throughout the years. I have purchased many Teapot and Tea Calendars for the last few years as gifts and my friends have saved each of their calendars at the end of the year. A wonderful treat to myself and friends.

I have been buying these calendars for at least five years for myself and a group of friends who love them as much as I do, so we've made a Christmas tradition of this giving and receiving this calendar. They are beautifully done with so much interesting history noted on each photo.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best tea calendar, October 8, 2002
By A Customer
Whether you enjoy socializing at tea parties, sipping quietly on a cup of tea at home by yourself, or just appreciate the beautiful tea sets, this is the calendar for you. I have had this calendar in my kitchen for the last 3 years, and I love it! Every photograph is staged to enhance the beauty and history of each tea set, and you feel like you're almost there having tea. I only wish they would include the recipes for the delicious looking goodies they include in the photographs!
