Starting with the basics, this journal helps the prospective art collector to understand what they like and how their personal interests will help them to understand their choices. With an accompanying narrative, the journal provides space to input your personal responses to questions such as "What alternative galleries have I visited?" and, "What kinds of drawing styles or techniques do I respond to most?"

The journal explores different media, materials and techniques and I was pleased to see installation art and new media included as these are perhaps not obvious areas for a beginner. The Resources section at the back provides guidance on where to go next including books, periodicals, and web resources.

If you have some experience in buying and owning art, you will almost certainly have graduated beyond the contents of this book, however if you are starting out in collecting art and are not sure what it's all about or don't know where to begin, the journal provides an opportunity to explore what makes you tick and will set you on the right course.

This journal is a waste of time & money....an insult to your intelligence.
