I don't usually write reviews but this album needs defense from those looking for another Fantastic Damage, because Collecting the Kid is nothing like it nor meant to be. TOJ might be a track found on Collecting but that's as close as they get to each other.

This is a solid album. The tracks are mostly instrumental with little vocals, but some have more lyrics than others. You aren't going to find anything like the flow from We're Famous, and El-P himself is seldom heard here. Still, the ablum has a much different feel than the heavy energy found on Fan Dam or the utter coolness of High Water. It's a laid back album of beats, with only one or two traditionally styled songs found in between (Jukie Skate Rock, Constellation Remix).

If you want to sample it before you buy, I recommend Intrigue in the House of India or The Day After Yesterday (reminiscent of Rjd2).

well to start it off i want to say i wasnt expecting too much from this album(considering the title) i figured it was b-sides. come to find out the majorty of the music was El-p's contrubtion to the "Bomb the System" movie. a few instrumentls of songs he has done for other artist on def jux. id have to say that the album ends on a rather weird note. The song "Oxycoton" the voice on the track is off key and the arangement is way crazy sounding more like a rock song. but that song aside the album is great.

I agree with the other person that this was a somewhat dissapointing CD. All instrumentals and no real content. Nice beats to listen to and chill with but otherwise nothing special.

I am a huge El-p fan, I think he is a genius, but man this album just seems like something he threw together in 5 minutes. Maybe i was mistaken, but i thought this was going to be a kick ass rap album like Fantastic Damage. Instead, it is a bunch of instrumental stuff and just ...actually now that i think about it, its a buncha junk. Sounds like something he whipped together real fast for a quick buck. Constellation Remix is the only good song, its the only one with lyrics, except for Oxycotin, which El-p describes as weird in the inner sleeve. No, its not weird it sucks. I was soo psyched for this album and when i heard it I wanted to vomit all over myself. So in conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this album, El-p you are still a amazing, but man I'm very dissappointed in you. Buy Fantastic Damage instead.
