This review is from: Collecting Lalique Glass (Paperback)
This book is small and only 144 pages, but it covers the history of Lalique and his sons, and his sons daughter pertaining to the Lalique glass business. It tells how he got into sculpting glass, what schools he went to etc.It covers what companies he made perfume bottles for.It goes in depth into how to examine Lalique for repairs,additions,cracks,fakes..etc.
It doesn't focus just on high dollar pieces like so many other books,it covers less expensive pieces too.Full color pictures with price values for most all the bottles shown(I had no clue it would include price values,or what the item brought at auction) It has very good descriptions of each piece. It then goes on to tell you how to buy Lalique glass, covering antique shows, auctions, the internet,Southeby's.. Very good read.I could not put it down until i finished the whole book. |
