This 2 disc set amply displays the development of Celine Dion's unique singing style during her early days as a young chanteuse from Quebec. This compilation is almost exclusively built upon the ballads composed by Eddy Marnay (Only 3 songs not penned by Marnay). It does not include the stronger pop/rock influences displayed in her later recordings of songs by Luc Plamondon. Even if you don't understand French, the sensitivity and emotion in Celine's voice tells the story in most of these songs. My only regret is that it does not include the breakthrough song of her career, which her mother wrote for her, "Ce n'etait qu'un reve".

This is a 2 CD collection of Celine's favorite hits, plus some kind of rare songs. I finally heard the song "Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi", with which Celine won at the 1988 Eurovision song contest. Overall, this is a must-have for the Celine fan as it has many of her old French songs on CD format. That alone makes this 2 CD collection worth owning!

Celine is a great vocalist, and this was evident already when she was a teenager. I grew up in Canada, and I remember her from the very beginning, and even then she was dazzling. But let's be realistic, these are 80s pop songs, sung by a teenager. While there is a lot of talent in the collection, the substance is not always there. As in all "the best of..." collections, many of these songs were never played on the radio and were just plugged in to fill the 2 disks. In addition, all of the mega-hits from the "Incognito" album are mysteriously not included in this collection. If it was just for that, I would give it only 3 stars. However, since her songs bring back so many memories for me, since they accompanied me all through my teenage years, I have to give it an extra star, just for the emotions they bring up. Whenever I hear her sing to her mother in "Tellement j'ai d'amour, pour toi", I cannot help but shed a tear...
