5.0 out of 5 stars Mint Condition sends me swingin'
With powerful vocals and and excellent instrumentals the members of Mint Condition separate themselves from the ordinary. Pretty Brown Eyes was the first track I heard. But when I got the collection I never got tired of it. A fabulous band with an authentic sound. Being a romantic those songs take me to higher places even if it is alone. I would recommend this album to...

3.0 out of 5 stars 3-1/2 stars -- Not bad but could've been a better collection
If you don't own any of Mint Condition's albums (but I don't know why you WOULDN'T), then I guess this collection should suit you well. All your favorite songs are on here, like "Breakin' My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)" and "So Fine". There are also two new tracks: "Deep In My Pockets" and "What You Bring to the Party" featuring a rap by someone named Lil' Buddy. But let's...

3.0 out of 5 stars 3-1/2 stars -- Not bad but could've been a better collection, May 27, 2004

But let's face it, those songs aren't the best songs the band has ever done. They really sound like filler, which is something that really doesn't need to be on a hits collection.

Another thing that gets me is that most of the songs on here are radio edits. Why can't we have the album versions? Isn't that why we BUY albums? If we wanted the radio versions, we would have listened to the radio! Oh well, there are still memorable songs like "The Never That You'll Never Know" and, of course, "U Send Me Swingin'".

When I first looked at the track listing, I was wondering why "If You Love Me" wasn't on here, but then I remembered that that song came out in '99, and this collection was made in '98. But as of '98, Mint Condition had only three albums out, and the fact that they had a hits collection already was a signal that their label, Perspective Records, was folding (which explains why many of the songs on here weren't singles).

All in all, this collection is fine, but if you REALLY want to enjoy Mint Condition, your best bet is to pick up their four albums instead.

I will start off by saying that all "Best-Of" albums should get no more than 2-stars because they are the coward's way to get familiar with an artist. This collection also cops out by including a bunch of "radio edits", which is pretty typical of a best of album, I suppose. That said, this one gets an extra star because I loved one of the new tracks, a remix, and the live track. I love MC and would recomend that you get the actual albums to get a better feel of the group and what they represent. But get this one also, if only for the extras, so that your MC collection is complete. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Abdolute Best Album of them all, September 8, 1998
By A Customer

This album is definately the jam. The two new singles just add more spice to the Mints flava. Stokley's vocals are truly off the hook - he truly took me there!! many times in Single to Mingle, the remix of Pretty Brown Eyes, and Let me Be The One!! This CD is a gift to all Mint Condition fans and if you are truly a fan you should NOT be without this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Never got enough credit, March 3, 2005
This review is from: Collection: 1991-1998 (Audio CD)
This band never got enough credit. Stokely definitely has one of my favorite voices. there are alot of great songs on the CD.
I wish they would make a comeback because we need more of this music and less of some of this other "Music" that the radio pushes on the public.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for any music lover!, February 17, 2000

I bought this CD 2 weeks ago and I can't stop listening to it! This is a collection that has some of the best songs that I have ever heard! I've been a Mint Condition fan since "Breakin' My Heart" was released in the early 90s. They are just as cool now as they ever were! The best track by far on this CD is "The Never That You Never Know." Give this CD a chance - you'll be glad you did!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tremendous -- It just needs 20 cuts, March 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Collection: 1991-1998 (Audio CD)
Mint Condition is the most underappreciated band in pop music today. Stokely's vocals are unreal, the lyrics are intelligent, the music funky. If I'm Puffy Combs, Mase, Jay Z. and any of the other ignoramuses who pass themselves off as "musicians" , I would pledge to stay away from the microphone after listening to these true pros work their magic. Fans, how do we guarantee that Da Mint's next album gets the support it deserves? Let's get a website started. By the way, back to the CD: ""Are You Free" and "I Wonder If She Likes Me'', two great, FUN, upbeat cuts from the debut album, were left out of the collection. They need to be included.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you love R&B at its best, this is it!!!!!!!, July 24, 1998

Each album by Mint Condition just keeps getting better and better and this compliation of their greatest hits proves this statement correct. Finally there is an R&B group in which the members not only sing beautifully but also write, produce, and play all the instruments for their music themselves(a far cry from the creative-less Sean Puffy Combs and the used to be talented Teddy Riley). It is a shame that Perspective and A&M Records do not invest more into the marketing of this group because when the smoke clears only groups like Mint Condition will be left standing. Stokely's vocals can make a woman take off her clothes. However, the rest of the band(Jeffrey, O'Dell, Larry, Keri, and Ricky) add so much to the group with their writing, playing, and harmonzing, that without their contributions, Stokely would not sound half as good as he does. It is a definitive album for R&B lovers and a sure fire hit to create a romantic mood.
