Excellent If New To Vale, Mostly Repeats To A Connoisser,
By
This review is from: The Collection (3CD) (Audio CD)
This is an excellent 3-album collection if you don't own any Jerry Vale CDs. Otherwise, it's just a mixed compilation of earlier CD releases with the exception of a few songs.Disc one has the previously unreleased CD version of "Where Were You When I Needed You", an old jukebox favorite, and one of Vale's greatest hits. I'm surprised it wasn't part of his "Greatest Hits" that was released in 1998! The rest of the songs are more of his greatest hits and jukebox singles from the 60's. Disc two has no new releases and is mostly comprised of his earliest recordings from the 50's. Disc three contains the previously unreleased CD versions of "Blue Velvet", "The Shadow Of Your Smile", "I Can't Stop Loving You", and "Spanish Eyes". Jerry Vale's version of "Blue Velvet" is, in my opinion, better than Bobby Vinton's. And "Spanish Eyes" is another one of those songs that boosts Vale hitting some of his highest notes, given the professional vocalist a chance to show off his phenomenal voice. Surprisingly absent from this collection is Jerry's award winning, high-noted, chart topper, "Time Alone Will Tell." Jerry Vale's crooner/balladeer versions of the pop songs from the 60's are sung with a top-of-the-line quality, as are all of his songs. With the releases of such songs as "Blue Velvet" and "Spanish Eyes", I have high hopes for the long awaited CD releases of Jerry's 60's albums "This Guy's In Love With You", "16 Greatest Hits Of The 60's", and "Time Alone Will Tell".

The premier romantic vocalist,
By
This review is from: The Collection (3CD) (Audio CD)
Jerry Vale is incredible, and why not start your vocal collection with most of his best? In these recordings, his voice is big, clear and smooth, and the sonics are fine. I have not heard him on vinyl, but the mid-range on these CD's seems great. I enjoyed this collection tremendously, but I also purchased "Love Me the Way I Love You" because it has "Inammorata" and "Al-Di-La" on the same disc with "Love Me with All your Heart." Play any of these discs and you feel as if you've been transported to another time and place, where love and romance are as important to life as air and water are. I've just ordered his Italian Greats collection, too, because he does such a wonderful job of mixing English and Italian lyrics. A must-have for hours of enjoyment!
