MONSTER MASH, October 20, 2005
This review is from: Collection (Audio CD)
EDGAR WINTER-THE EDGAR WINTER COLLECTION: Blooze rockin' Texan Edgar Winter's COLLECTION only contains a pair of bona fide Top 40 classics, the chart topping instrumental freak-out FRANKENSTEIN and the Dan Hartman composed and sung blue eyed soul classic FREE RIDE...but that's hardly the point. The well respected keyboardist/saxman dabbles easily in country (ROUND & ROUND) pure high grade RNB (TOBACCO ROAD), brass-kickin' pop (KEEP PLAYIN' THAT ROCK & ROLL), earthy funk (WE ALL HAD A REAL GOOD TIME) and other genres. After sampling this flashy potpourri of rootsy musical styles, new fans are advised to check out the albums ROADWORK, a blistering live outing by Edgar's legendary soul revue White Trash, and the glam-jammin' 70s milestone THEY ONLY COME OUT AT NIGHT by the Edgar Winter Group. COLLECTION serves as a good jumping off point into the world of Winter's stylish output. RATING FIVE SYNTHS

This, BEST OF EDGAR WINTER, And Several Of His Other Albums Are The Place To Start, September 21, 2008
This review is from: Collection (Audio CD)
THE EDGAR WINTER COLLECTION, along with BEST OF EDGAR WINTER, EDGAR WINTER'S WHITE TRASH, THEY ONLY COME OUT AT NIGHT, and his latest, REBEL ROAD, are the first Edgar Winter albums you should buy. This one has several songs that were left off BEST OF, including "River's Risin'", "Hangin' Around", and "Round And Round." Like BEST OF, this CD/cassette showcases Edgar Winter's 70s guitarists- Floyd Radford, Ronnie Montrose, and Rick Derringer- extremely effectively, as each played with him at different times during his peak years. With the songs featured on this exceptional anthology, Winter, who's legally blind, proves that a disability doesn't have to be a handicap.

A real blend of blues, funk, country, jazz, ..., May 6, 2002
This review is from: Collection (Audio CD)
This is a record for good music lovers. You can't file it under just one music style. There are some furious blues/funk/jazz , like the first and other tracks with the 'White Trash' band , and also some more (beautiful)'comercial' songs, like Dying to Live . All material is first class, and it's a good introduction to Edgar Winter's music.
