A gem of an album,

This album is my introduction to Kathy Mattea. I'm very glad I picked it up. Not a weak song in the collection and some standouts include 18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses, Train of Memories, Love at the Five and Dime and the beautiful, superb Goin' Gone. If you haven't heard it, this song is worth getting the album for alone.

I bought this album because I liked one song (Where've You Been)on it and was delighted with the rest of the album. These songs tug at your heartstrings. This is a must-have for Kathy Mattea fans old or new.

Brilliant eighties folk-country,

Please note that a new compilation, Definitive collection, has now been released at a similar price. It contains 20 tracks compared to ten here. The only one included here but omitted from that set is A few good things remain. Unless you particularly want that track, I recommend buying Definitive collection instead.
In the late eighties and early nineties, Kathy's music based on traditional country but with folk influences, was extremely popular. This album contains ten of her finest and most successful songs. At the time of its original release, a European version was released with three extra tracks (She came from Fort Worth Texas, Come from the heart and Burning old memories, all from her Willow in the wind album) and a different title (Untold stories) but that has long been unavailable.Love at the five and dime was the song that provided Kathy with her breakthrough, becoming a top three country hit. It was followed by a series of other country hits including Walk the way the wind blows, Going gone, Eighteen wheels and a dozen roses and Where've you been, all included here.
