A St.Valentines Day Massacre of a Release!, February 8, 2004
This review is from: Collection (Audio CD)
I reviewed this on the UK site like so (w/ a couple of updates):
Legs Diamond are named after a N.Y.City mobster & the fact that-almost 30 years after their formation- they remain little heard of is, quite frankly, criminal!!
This boxset is a heaven- sent opportunity to experience The Diamond Gang's supreme early work- the first album with early favourites like Rat Race and Satin Peacock (a track that Gene Simmons wanted to record with Kiss), the second album 'Diamond is A Hard Rock' (the title track's a personal favourite) and album No. 3 'Firepower' (don't just take my word for it- Firepower's got a top rating in its own right on amazon.co.uk).
Then, to cap it all, a CD of tracks recorded in November 1979 for what would have been the 4th album. (This was released as 'Uncut Diamond' in 2000).
'The Collection' is a stylish package comprising a fold-out box sleeve with an attached booklet containing lyrics and a band resumé. Its an offer you can't refuse!!!!
P.S. there were only 1,000 made, if you can get a copy for under 60 bucks these days, you're doing well!
