4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent music, but a bit too short., July 18, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Collection Des Singles (Audio CD)
I was at a con this weekend, saw this in the dealer's room, and just about died of happiness. The song selection is absolutely perfect for me, with no bombs like too many of my CDs. The DVD is decent so far, and I was extremely pleased to find that it was all regions. My only gripe and the thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars is that it is too short. Usually I like my cds to have a good hour or so of music, but this doesn't. Still very, very worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Malice Mizer, July 16, 2008

Truth be told, I enjoy listening to this singles collection more than I do the album itself (Merveilles), although I think the album is wonderful. Some of the songs are slightly different mixes than the album versions. Bel Air (Track 1), for example, is the mix used in the video, and it doesn't contain the added sound effects during the music box segments or the additional instruments, giving it a cleaner sound overall. Every track on the disc is great; there's no filler.

The second disc is a Region 2 DVD which includes the short silent film Bel Air (roughly twenty minutes), which leads into the Bel Air video (no subtitles). The film has sound (subtle music and sound effects), but no dialogue, and (from what I've read) was shot on location in France. The DVD also includes a short photo gallery.

This CD/DVD set comes in a standard-size jewel case, with a nice booklet. If you're into Malice Mizer, this collection certainly is worth the relatively high price typical of Japanese imports.
