The Rascals were a great band on record and live. This CD has elements of their live show. The Mickey's Monkey/Love Lights cut and the song, Come On Up, are examples of some of the best music ever made. Dino Danelli's drums are great particularly on the transition from Mickey's Monkey to Love Lights - one of the best drum riffs of all time. This CD was out of print for a long while. I'm glad it's back. Unfortunately, the quality of the recording is not as good as it could be. This CD and other Rascals CDs deserve to be remastered.

I had this as an album in the sixties and couldn't forget their version of MORE. What a rendition. These cats were way cool. I bought the cd as I'm doing with all the music I loved from my youth, and it's still great. I recommend this to anyone who loves the Young Rascals, although I can't imagine any fan of the band not owning this already. If you're not familiar with them, this is a great introduction. It's amazing that people could come up with so much great music every time out, and that doesn't happen much these days, but the Rascals were consistent hit makers and never made a bad record. Not in my opinion, anyway, but I love these guys. Hope their music inspires young musicians to excellence in their output. They mined the best of American popular music. And contributed a rich legacy to add to it. Great stuff.

in this wonderful group of upbeat music. The drums in "Lonely too long" are out of this world. Other favorites are "Come on up" and "Too many fish in the sea". But their treatment of "Since i fell for you" and "More" showcase their talent fantastically. I got the see the Rascals live at Chippewa Lake Park in Ohio, probably in 1966. Of course I loved them but didn't realize what a great part of rock history I got to witness. Good old days! Only this got 4 stars instead of 5 is that songs are included both in stereo and mono-don't need the mono-had enough of that on vinyl!

Number #1 Rascals Recording,

I had this LP in college and wore it out. When it came out on CD I was thrilled. Gene's guitar riffs on "Since I Fell For You", and "More" are awesome, and his solo on "What Is The Reason", is my favorite guitar solo of all time. I saw the Rascals in 1966 at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh PA. Felix had a long robe on, he looked like Jesus!

I love the Rascals and this CD has most of their hits. I did not see the need to put both stereo and mono versions, so I think that was a waste.

the rascals were so far ahead of the times that they were totally under-appreciated - gene cornish is and was one of the best guitarists ever! if you ever saw the rascals live, you could well see what i am saying, gene did it all - beautiful ballads, dancing rhythms and rock & roll - a perfectionist, yet raw & dynamic...little eddie - what can i say??? - mj learned from eddie!!! non-stop dancing machine!!! with a set of shakers in his hand, good golly miss molly!!! felix the cat was another musician from way, way, past beyond! the keyboards never smoked more rhythms & rock & roll until felix came along - all succeeding keyboard players were felix-wannabe's! last and the most incredible was dino, so far ahead of the times...with a basic single set of drums (ludwigs) he could sound like 10 marching bands all by himself - i don't care what rock drummer you name, dino ripped their bvds right off of them...twirling drum sticks? you gotta be kidding me!!!
to see them live was an experience!!! if you didn't feel like dancing or just plain feel good listening to them, you weren't alive bruddah! mickey's monkey/love lights is an icon! this whole album is!!! and most of all, made in the usa bruddah! aloha |
