Product Description

When you enlist in the Galactic Empire's Stormtroopers, not only do you get a sweet suit of armor, but you'll also get to travel to exotic locations like the Second Moon of Endor, Hoth and Tatooine. You'll get to use a blaster and feel like a big shot and you might even get to take on important missions for the Empire, like guarding the newest secret space station. The only real risk is that you might become blaster fodder for the Rebel Alliance and the armor that is provided seems to have a slight weakness against rocks and boulders. But hey, no risk, no reward, right? At least the armor makes you look cool while you're getting totally owned by Ewoks.

I don't know why Lucas would "officially license" anything from Rubies.

There isn't any screen covering the frown grill and it's easy to see the face within and it's VERY hard to see thru the helmet lenses.

So, I did it, I got it, I had to, it looked so cool. Don't do it, its a trap. It has taken major modification to come even close to being wearable. It could be the most uncomfortable thing ever worn that was not used for torture, I have the standard size. Which means that your legs must be different widths, as are your arms, since they do not match. The straps are unusable in some spots and in other the Velcro is matched wrong, as in soft and soft. Whoever did the quality control for this item should be shot. I lost out I lost my money, don't fall for the pic, learn from my mistake!

The following is a review of the Standard Size Rubies Stormtrooper Supreme.

My dimensions: 5'8" without shoes, 42" chest, athletic build.

    First the positives.

    1) This is an OK costume if you're only using it for Halloween parties.
    2) The black body suit has velcro straps pre-sewn into the shoulders, so the shoulder "bell" armor stays put.
    3) Chest armor fit me perfectly.
    4) Helmet is nice.

    Now the negatives:

    1) If your'e my height or less, this armor needs to be trimmed to fit for comfort and mobility. Putting it on, out of the box, I literally could not walk or climb up/down steps. That being said, you'll need to buy a Dremel or some other type of rotary tool. You'll need the plastic cutting attachment (I used the Dremel Diamond tip wheel). I cut 1" off the top of each thigh, and 1/2" of the bottoms. *** WARNING *** This procedure is potentially dangerous as you don't want a diamond-tipped Dremel slipping out of your'e hand! Buy goggles too, as sharp plastic pieces tend to fly around during the trimming process.

    2) I had to cut the straps from the "butt-plate and back" and the COD and chest. You'll need to buy a harness so that the butt-plate doesn't "droop" around when you walk. I bought some industrial-strength velcro to connect the harness to the butt-plate + AB/COD piece.

    3) The forearm pieces curve inward towards your arm. So at a 90 degree angle, it digs into you. Another piece I had to cut out... arrrggg!

After about 10 hours of cutting, sanding, and re-velcro'ing, the suit will be wearable.

Oh where oh where does one start with this disaster?
It's from Ruby's so a few things can be expected.
Ruby's is in business to turn a profit and stay in business.
Their costumes are usually overpriced and the quality is almost always garbage.
DO NOT be fooled into thinking you can buy this costume and be accepted by the local 501st.
The 501st have already stated this costume will NOT be accepted.
Now lets tackle the costume itself.
    The helmet stinks.
It's way too small, the frown is way too small.
The bubble lenses, while being movie accurate are very difficult to see through.
Remember what Luke said in A New Hope....?
"I can't see anything out of this helmet"
He was right, and that's why the majority of costumer's take out the bubble lenses and replace them with flat lenses.

As for the rest of the "armor".
the chest piece comes down WAY too far, it looks like a tee shirt. LOL
    NOT movie accurate.
The armor also doesn't include the "toilet paper roll" Oxygen tank on the back of the suit.
It doesn't come with boots or a blaster and for $800.00 give me a break.
The entire thing looks like tupperware.
Trust me for $ 800.00 you can get a much better costume off ebay.
I only paid $350.00 for my shadow stormtrooper armor,(pics coming soon).
It's way cheaper and way more accurate than this costume.
Don't be fooled by the picture, people were fooled by the Vader Supreme pics but then the costume itself was nothing like the pictures.
Another thing, this costume is being touted as one size fits all.
    Doubt it!
Modifications will have to be made if your a shorty like me.
If your hellbent on buying this for Halloween then by all means...it's your money.

    Verified Purchase
This review is based on an actual purchase, modification and wearing of the Rubies costume armor.

I needed to pull together stormtrooper armor in less than a week, so I knew that doing it the proper way (assembling from a kit) would not be an option for me. After doing a bit of research I ordered the Rubies Supreme Edition Stormtrooper for just under $530 from Amazon (7th Avenue Store). The 22lb box arrived by FedEx Home Delivery 5 days later (CA to CT) just in time for my event.

Based on the Amazon reviews and from a little Google searching, I was fully prepared to work on modifying of the costume when it arrived so I picked up some heavy duty velcro & elastic in advance, and had sand-paper and my dremel ready to go. Fortunately the armor was in much better condition than I expected and I only needed to make a few minor modifications in order to make it fit my 5'11" 200lb frame.

Overall I would recommend this armor/helmet combo for anyone who doesn't want to assemble their own but is not afraid of making some slight modifications. I think that $530 is a fair price, but wish that it came with a better helmet. I can see why anyone who paid over $800 for this when it first came out would be very disappointed. But with a little bit of work (about an hour total for me) this will get you an extremely "realistic" looking stormtrooper. Please note that it doesn't come with boots, neck seal or blaster. More details below if you are curious.

    ARMOR:
Build quality is great for the most part. All of the armor parts are rugged and polished. The velcro and elastic used to attach armor parts together doesn't inspire much confidence though.
